Morphine Prince 109,655
AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas will stop helping the U.S. government provide aid and services to refugees, state officials said Wednesday, severing ties at a time when President Barack Obama has announced intentions to dramatically increase the number of resettlements in 2017. Kansas and New Jersey also have pulled out of the federally funded refugee resettlement program due to what Republicans have called security concerns. Texas Gov. Greg Abbott said his state will follow suit unless demands for more rigorous refugee vetting are "unconditionally" met by Sept. 30. Goosey 3,017
It's late 2015. US is the richest and most powerful country in the world. Obama is like "we'll take 10,000 refugees over the following year!" Everyone is like "NOOOOOOOOO! Ten thousand? What you doing Barack?" Meanwhile in Canada, Justin Trudeau pledges to take 25,000 before the start of the new year and everyone is like "Neat! Lets help some Syrians." (and meanwhile in Germany, Angela Merkel goes the opposite way and takes in waaaaaaay too many ) "I am the world's greatest person that does not want to let people into the country."—US President Donald J. Trump
Seeka 12,372
Reminds of the fact that Texas banned selling FF7. Ugh, I hope something happens so I don't lose all my faith in this country before the end of the year.

Scandinavian countries are by far richer than the US when taking GDP into consideration. Scandinavian countries can afford to handle more refugees than the US because the US doesn't have the funds to do it.

Also remember, the refugees the US takes in are given a direct path to citizenship and their children born here will become automatic US citizens. The same does not hold true for many countries accepting refugees.
