Varo Yan 2,984
Perfect illusion and the good-bye to the little monsters. When Gaga sings about love don't sing about a lover-Corporeal, sings about the "audience" that he loves her or that she seeks to be loved. If ARTPOP was the era that embraced the idea of failure in the speech of Gaga, Joanne is on freedom after losing your audience. In the case of "Perfect illusion" says that love is an illusion. I mean, his audience (and right there, the fame and their little monsters) were always the farce. Because: (a) [Art] you are only free when you fail. You are only free when you survive al-Fake-love of your audience. (? ) the artist can't kill your audience, but it should not depend on your love. Pop the vitality of the video does not lie in the enjoyment, but in the rage. A pop song that isn't sad, but angry. And, however, finds his escape at the dance (inside of a rock concert! ). We love the image of the desert along the whole video and the frantic pace, as a mirage. The Mirages are never enough to slake the thirst of the fame or the hunger of love. What it means to wake up, is defined in that loneliness at the end of the video, when your hearing has already disappeared or love has ended up following the revelation of his disappointment. Just then the artist conquers his freedom. Gaga-Joanne: the icon stripped of their beads. The Rockstar who has always been, the diva pop impossible that his time is not worth. And that is that it is always fascinating to the fact that no matter how far I get (the cream of Hollywood Aplaudiéndola standing for two consecutive years in the academy awards), to gaga always hated the "cool kids" (those who think they're custodians A taste of supposedly high). The Quintessence Freak. Those who were once their little monsters and the that she practically not today appoints and only speaks of a more comprehensive and rational to tell them " fans " because they are adding more people what more than to be critics are buyers but never " were born This way " and much less went through bad romance. Without a doubt, a new artist, new followers and new detractors but this time (again) created by herself. As a sign that she now more than ever. Take the wheel of his own career. JusKeepBreathin 19,311
If the jist of this is that Perfect Illusion is about her relationship with her fickle fans then I've been saying that since the song came out and just like I posted earlier in another thread that the video backs that up. As she once said, she saw a bunch of litte "hers" when she looked out into the audience at her shows. I'll always stand by her until the day I die because she's always been there for me. She was there when nobody else was. She said I was perfect when everybody else was trying to change me. Most importantly, she loved me unconditionally when nobody else did. I'm eternally grateful for that I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you
Starbucks 4,204
She's lonely at the end. The crowd (fans) and the flashing lights (media) were Illusion, in another word, "fake" Your everyday cups of kindness

eNICKma 240
But if she's really done with "little monsters" or singing about how it's not real, why is she always rockin her Mother Monster chain necklace lately? It's a universal song which means it has MANY meanings and can be interpreted in many ways, she even said that. I understand how people can see from the video how much her image, video style, and lyrics can seem like her crazy Gaga side was an illusion but she also JUST said in an interview this month about how now that shes 30 she has periods where her image and style is how it is currently and then they're are periods where she feels even CRAZIER than she was in her 20s, so who knows maybe we'll see some of that in this era. But regardless, I'm a monster for life no matter what she looks like. I've always been a complete die hard fan for everything she is on stage, on screen and off. Her humanitarian efforts, her LOVE and appreciation\devotion of her monsters, her voice, Original Creativity and Art, rebellious nature, style, lyrics, and DIAMOND HEART are why I stan hard with Paws High all day. In the Artrave pit, I NEVER felt so connected with strangers I've never met all around me. We were all RAGING so HARD and had hella moments of dancing and singing along to our QUEEN and it seriously felt like I was surrounded by family. The little monsters will never fade, we're an eternal race. Paws up
prince 4,688
In all honestly I feel like the song has no meaning, Kevin Parker came up with the idea of illusion and every time she explains it it turns into an essay on life and how "social media is an illusion, we see things so perfectly yet they're not". I think she's a little ashamed to say "hey it has no real personal connection but it was just a fun collaboration with some friends i've made and that's all it is, don't think too deeply into it" and she shouldn't be ashamed, she makes great music and if for once it doesn't have a huge connection or meaning behind it then that's fine?! The little monsters will never fade, we're an eternal race. Paws up I'm a monster for life but lets face it a lot of people jumped ship a while ago. Thats probably who she is referring to. Once you get to be as big a celebrity as she is you see ups and downs. A lot of singers have put it in their songs, but PI is much more metaphorical in its message. Madonna, Britney, Courtney Love and others have put it in songs already with a more literal message. PI is just much more metaphorical in its message and it doesn't mean she doesn't love her little monsters, it just means she now understands that the adulation she receives isn't really love it's an illusion she mistook for love. But its also much deeper than that, even the ones that love her, do they really love her (Stefani Joanne Angelina) or do they love Lady Gaga even though she is the same person? LOL PI is really a brilliant song if you start dissecting it. The drug metaphors in the song could be considered the addicting adrenaline of her performing on stage for her fans and the "caught up in your show", could be more about her obsessing with how to make her performances perfect for her fans rather than taking a more literal approach that its about someone lying to her. I think this is probably one of her best songs because there is so many ways to interpret it. It means many different things to different people the way art does. Again, I personally don't think she doesn't love her little monsters, but I think she now knows what she gets back isn't real love. This is all just my opinion. It's not fact so you don't have to agree with me. It's just a theory I'm putting it out there. One thing that monsters have taught me is that DNA doesn't make you family. You earn the privilege to be called family by always being there for one another when someone needs you. If you have a fight with a friend and they call you at 2am because their ride bailed, a friend would say "**** you!!!! Walk home assh*ole!!!" A monster would say "I'm still pissed as hell at you but I'm coming to get you. What's the address?". Fanbases come and go but monsters are forever. I love you monsters. A lot of people will say that the whole "mama monster" deal was a record selling gimmick but I don't think so. I mean she tattooed it on her body for Christ sakes. Her true monsters are the only ones who will really see how maternal she is with us. That's just who she is. She knows who the true monsters are and she'll reward us with all of her love and affection I love you monsters.
