Bob Dylan is one of the most influential folk and rock artists of all time. When he debuted in the 1960s he was immediately praised for his unique folk sound. This sound gained him tons of fans and a lot of success. He was even called the leading "songwriter for the revival of folk music". But just when everyone seemed to love him, he released a new album full of electric guitars and rock music. He basically went against all that he was known for with his new music. When he performed his new songs live for the first time, his audience began to boo him as they felt betrayed with his new sound. "Bob Dylan split 15,000 of his fans down the middle at Forest hills Tennis Stadium Sunday night... The most influential writer-performer on the pop music scene during the past decade, Dylan has apparently evolved too fast for some of his young followers"; a report from a journalist at the time. This story and quote sounds a lot like what Gaga fans are facing right now. Gaga is preparing for a new radical change with her Joanne era. She is doing exactly the opposite of what she did before. And many of her fans are not willing to accept it. Finally, it is worth noting that Bob Dylan's rock songs are now some of the most famous and influential rock songs of all time. The band The Rolling Stones are named after his song "Like A Rolling Stone".

I would rather have Gaga emulate Bob Dylan's lyrics epicness, if we have to bring Dylan here regarding Gaga.

No because Gaga isn't doing anything unprecedented. It isn't as big of a jump as Dylan's move towards electric. Not to mention that electric guitars and rock n roll in general were still relatively new.

Gaga's not the first to potentially alienate fans with a different musical direction, but that's not the same as being on the forefront of something revolutionary. I like Perfect Illusion and I expect to like Joanne but she's made a point out of it being a traditionally made record. To compare it to Electric Dylan would mean that she'd actually need to do something innovative...

I would hope so, but would never count upon it. If Gaga did anything near as brilliant as Bob Dylan in any of his revolutionary moments, we would be reading comments from reviewers all over the place, with their mouths wide open and their tongues hanging about. Gaga would be praised like we have never seen and even right now, about a month before we get to hear it, we'd hear loud and clear everywhere about Gaga's new expedition.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.
