AlexanderMagno 10,746
I didn't like PI at first. I didn't like PI at the 100th time. I was disappointed with the production, with the mastering, even with Gaga's vocals in a way. Surprisingly, the music video makes me appreciate the music more. Its fast, epileptic, raging pace is just what I needed for the song. I was very, VERY impressed that she used the audience, the performance, to explore the perfect illusion. Didn't see that one coming (as I was only hoping for her to perform the song and that was that), it gives the video a decent meaning (thank God that didn't change in Gaga's culture) and an interesting twist for the song. The way she holds to Kevin and Mark, how she is so possessed by the performance, is hypnotic, insane, and it fits the song so well. When I listen to the song alone, all I can hear is Gaga singing the same thing really loud all the time and whatever feeling she's trying to convey doesn't hit me. It's not perfect. In fact (sorry Gaga, I know you're sick of hearing this), but her body moves and face expressions are way too much, too dramatic. But well, can't say I'm not expecting that from Gaga already. Anyway, as simple as the video can be, it's not as basic or as meaningless as I was hoping, and sure is helping me like the song a bit more. Anyone feels the same? She's having a meltdown from the realization that IT WASN'T LAAAAAAHVVVV!!!
Glamourpuss 29,062
I agree with the first part about how the video makes the song better. I knew that would be the case and wish she'd release it sooner because the song alone makes you focus on the vocals too much. I disagree with everything else because the eye rolling and grabbing Kevin's head was some of the best bits. The video gets a 10/10 for me. I loved Bad Romance but I think she might have just topped it.
kizurl 1,801
It's one of those songs thats you need to imagine it performed live to like it. I didn't like it at first either, until it hit me as an epic encore piece.
SarahYuko 1,002
Did you also notice the transitions from scene to scene? So she's driving out into the desert, full of rage that she needs to let out. She stops in the middle of nowhere and starts performing crazily with those wacky moves and facial expressions and her eyes rolling back; completely immersed in the song tha starts with, "Trying to get control, pressure's takin' a toll..." (which is why I think the video really brings the song out). Next scene, She's imagining the perfect crowd bopping hard to the song, Mark and Bloodpop are also there and she's holding onto them for dear life. And then when the song ends while she's crowd-surfing, we see her in the last scene rolling around in the desert (which is reality). I personally LOVE the video
Sakrai 4,759
I think it was a bad idea to release the song without the MV. And I've been very vocal about my absolute love for the song. I still think it's Gaga's best lead single, I genuinely love it. But while watching the video I was reminded how much of a performer Gaga is. I feel like this video really makes you understand Gaga's thought process while singing this song. It's violent, abrasive, strong, and crazy. And I'm sure that's what most haters found off putting about the song; because it's a lot to take, and the video really makes everything make more sense. Oh, I'm just visiting-

It alienated lots of people before they had the chance. If I wasn't her fan, I'd probably skip the video. It could have been Gaga's powerful comeback and show everyone this intense, hypnotic side we had only seen disguised in her outrageous performances, never in its most devilish, raging look. Maybe there's still time, let the video get noticed.
