What if WE are the Perfect Illusion?

I agree but I don't think its just about her fans. I think its about fame and her huge popularity. Its all an illusion because it didn't last and all the people who were interested in her at a superficial level didn't really care about her personally.

You might be onto something tbh :nails:

Yes, I also do love partying in moving houses as seen in that one Bacardi tv ad.

Given that her first two albums were all about the good and bad (albeit addicting) sides of fame, fame is indeed her perfect illusion in this video. All the things she probably really liked or got addicted to about it when she broke out at age 23. She's 30 now, and I don't think she doubts her fans' love for her, only that she's also not blind to the way the media took her to a "peak," crowned her and what not, then kind of broke her right down to pieces, even celebrating her decay, plus the way some "fans" were really just there for her early 20's self and are always disappointed with everything she does lately as a 30 year old woman.

I low-key understand it tbh, some were naysayers too regarding Harry Potter for example when the magical and light young adult fiction grew to become a very dark borderline adult novel series. But as JK Rowling said, she knew her readers will grow, and so should the characters and plots in her stories! I mean if you watch Pokemon you prolly know how frustrating it is that Ash NEVER grows older/matures LOL. But I digress :poot:

You are small men. You are not worthy to rule the Dothraki.

Yep. It's about all of it.

The flashing "stage lights" in the video are clearly meant to mimic paparazzi cameras flashing.

I think Gaga isn't mentioning this because then the song wouldn't be relatable and maybe she would appear desperate for attention or whatever.

Gaga Medicine

The fact that she doesn't look straight to the camera in any moment gotta mean something... I don't know if it means what you are saying though.

Even when she is face to face to the camera she roll her eyes or close them.

Am I reaching? lol

I sure hope it's not about us. As much as I love my monster family, there are people who became "ex monsters" and it just kills me inside when they say hurtful things about her. I love her just as much now as I did 8 years ago. I love the woman she's become even though I'll always see her as the lavender blonde with a hair bow. I'll always be there for her because she's always been there for me.

I love you monsters. I'd be unfixably broken without you

Dangerous Man

Someone from Reddit has this theory that PI is actually about Gaga and LMs relationship and I've been thinking the same too after watching the video many times.

Notice how Gaga was surrounded by fans at the start then at the end she was left alone in the dessert. It is like the representation of how fans claim that they love her (when she was still on top of the world) then they suddenly start to drag and criticize her and many fans even abandoned her at her rough times. Therefore our love for Gaga was only a #PerfectIllusion.

Ofc there are still genuine fans of Gaga like me and the rest of us here but in general sense, this theory is kinda acceptable.

That is exactly what i thought when i saw it, her left in the desert by her fans, a mirage of her fans loving her :neyde:

You can not hide if nobody pays attention to you :*

i mean, it's about how you can't tell when love is real. I don't think the two scenes with/without fans are literally about fans. I just think she was daydreaming in the desert after pulling over. But, it's Gaga so I mean, any interpretation is valid. I just don't think that was really her intention.
