Gypsy18 70
I think Lady Gaga needs to perform at the upcoming Super Bowl Halftime Show. And here is why.... (I know this might be a little long but please read ) Lets take a look at Beyonce's career for a moment. After the succes that she had with Dangerously in Love, B-Day and I Am...Sasha Fierce, she released 4. I Am... Sasha Fierce was a huge era for Beyonce, therefore it is fair to assume that 4 should have been a big era, carrying on the success from her three previous albums. However, the first single Run the Word (Girls) did not have great success, neither did the second single; Best Thing I Never Had. Altough the singles didn't perform as expected the album still debuted at #1 on the Billboard 200 chart, while having the lowest first week sales of her career. It is fair to say that this can be compared to Gaga's ARTPOP era. It was an album that not everybody liked. That was in 2011. It is fair to say that Beyonce's star power was not as big anymore and anticipation for her next album wasnt really high. Now fast forward to February 2013, Beyonce is set to perform the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2 years after the release of 4. Her halftime show was praised by the GP and critics alike, and it propelled her to a new career peak. She embark on The Mrs. Carter Word Tour after that, which became her most successful at the time. She showed everyone how much of a star and great performer she was and that is when people started idolizing and acclaiming her every move. Anticipation was high for her next album and when she dropped Beyoncé unexpectedly, the world was hers. After ARTPOP, even tho its been 3 years since a new pop album, it is fair to say that the anticipation for a new Gaga album by the GP is moderate. Even tho I love Perfect Illusion, we can see the effect ARTPOP had on Gaga's career. That is why I think Gaga should perform at the Super Bowl Halftime Show. It would show everyone that she is one of THE GREATEST performers of our time and would cement her as the star she is. It would also ensure that her new world tour for Joanne would be a success. She could announce it after her performance, start selling the tickets even tho it would only start after she is done with filming of A Star Is Born. As much as people on this site are saying they don't care about her chart and commercial success, we all know deep down that we want the best for her. Her music made us fall in love with her but her success and iconic performances made us become stans. This is just my opinion, and if Bobby really is as good a manager as everyone claims he is, this is the best move for Gaga's career longevity at this point. This might also be the only chance for her to perform if her career keeps on declining. It would ensure a successful world tour, boost Joanne's and all her catalogue's sales and would create anticipation for her next album. That is all. thatfoxyfeeling 13,006
I agree to an extent, but it was only last year she performed the anthem and the GP didn't get on their knees like they do for Beyonce. I think the GP actually miss the old crazy Gaga they loved to hate but enjoyed her music.

But Madonna already has an established and decade's long successful career. She didn't need anymore success. It was just an honor for her to play it. She is seen as a legend no matter what. That's a huge difference between her and this generation's pop stars

Shouldnt it be the other way around ? Anyway, I dont really care if it boosts the sales. I just want to see her rocking on-stage during the Super Bowl. Is that too much to ask ? That's a huge difference between her and this generation's pop stars Sis she still had an album to sell and has had an album after that neither have done particularly amazingly, a super bowl performance does not ensure future success. In fact the only person it's really had that effect on in recent years is Beyoncé.

GMAYL debuted Top 10 because of the SB. It could save the Joanne era imo.

One can always pray, but if she does get the Super Bowl Halftime Show, you can at least guarantee she will release a single shortly before, during, or after the performance that will give her at the least a top 20 hit, so there's that good news I guess

Bolkins 4,125
Makes sense, certainly what you're saying in terms of boosting tour sales. I do feel as though she needs at least 1 more decent sized hit before she does the Super Bowl, her older hits are enough to fill the set but she needs something recent to tie it all together and not feel like a...errr....tribute performance Not the bore worms!
