If you feel some kind of vicarious failure when gaga doesn't top the charts you need to focus on something other than gaga. Music is about enjoying the MUSIC regardless of how it placed. Some amazing musicians and bands have never had a number 1 in their whole career...not because it's bad music but because it doesn't hit the narrow niche of chart music. People are not hating on you they're giving perspective. For me the era wouldn't be successful if she got lots of number 1s with bad songs even tho she could easily do that.
