I've been thinking that a lot lately too, an edgy, darker 21.

As sad as they make me sometimes, every time I listen to them they change me a little bit and make me a little braver and stronger.

I can easily say that Lana's music did change my life, hopefully for the better. As depressing as some of the songs are, it feel does help a lot. Means a lot to me.

I think it's just the American press being assholes. Every review I read, the music is hardly mentioned. They are critiquing her, not the album. BULL****. This is one of the best albums I have heard in years.

Kinda figured that.

yeah it's ridiculous. Almost every american review i've read begins with her father, Interscope, her lips. SNL. WHO GIVE A FLYING ****? i mean hello...i don't care if she's manufactured. Everyone in pop music is. Gaga is, Rihanna is, Katy Perry is. It doesn't matter. The album is amazing.

Because that's how music today is. The album is a reflection of her as an individual, not her musical talents. Born to Die IS Lana del Rey, so people have a need to know more about the artist to understand the music more. That's why people diss Lady Gaga as a person, and never her music. Music today is just a huge gimmick

How Lucky Ones is above her obvious future hits (National Anthem + Radio) is beyond me :omg:

The more i listen to the album the more it becomes addictive! :legend:

I was the same way :ohno: I dissed it a lot before but it's slowly growing on me. It has a weird element that draws you to it so even though I don't particularly like it, it's like hypnotising

I feel the same way about it even though i never dissed it

On the first few listens i was like i'm not keen with this music but after even a few more listens i feel so drawn into it

I bet people bought the standard edition and bought the bonus tracks separately. Lucky Ones is still a great track though.

One thing that annoys me about National Anthem.. does the part where she sings 'Tell me I'm your national anthem,' sound low quality for anyone else?

Yes yes yes. It's almost too loud, it sounds like they tacked on the chorus + didn't level the volume levels. I always have to turn it down like **** b/c the intro is so ****ing quiet but the chorus is like loud as possible.
