Economy 49,533
With all the meltdowns of the "few weeks" comment lets be logical about this and think for a moment The music video is said to be finished. And its simple so editing cant take long. So its not like they cant release it if they dont want to. They are purposely witholding it from us Now would they make us wait just for the fun of it? That would be absord. They have to have a reason to be delaying it if its all finished Im thinking that they know the song is a grower. That seems to be the general consensus that most people prefer the song after a few listens... Keeping that in mind, they may be trying to save much of the promo and hype building (like a music video) until a little later on to give it some more jolts and life to maintain steady airplay and exposure A grower if it gets steady play long enough could eventually erupt and become a big hit. But if all the promo is used up innitially there is a risk the grower could just plumet after a few weeks if there isnt enough support immagine the attention: "hey Guess what? gaga released a simple video with just her singing and no weird stuff can you believe it?" And that for example can help maintain exposure to the song longer As i said, they wouldnt make us wait just for the sake if making us wait!!!!! venusfly 17,885
The issue is when people are listening to new music they generally won't give songs a chance to grow, first impressions are everything

Bloody Matt 5,357
Of course there's a plan... It's not like they plan things just because...!

If it comes on and they dont change the station imediately, if its on a commercial, if their friends play it etc U cant avoid music u dont like COMPLETELY thats why ppl get so annoyed with music u dont like enough people get exposure that if their take on the song is so-so, those listeners eventually can grow to like it thats how growers manage to top charts sometimes (even if not often)
AlexanderMagno 10,746
Maybe... I don't know, everything about this era seems so relaxed right now... I don't think they are giving that much attention to marketing strategies tbh. Maybe they're just waiting to see how the song alone does? If it goes up the charts, they release the video later, if not they push the video earlier... I mean, besides promoting the song on the radio and such, is there a plan? It sounds to me that Gaga is doing what she has always wanted: just playing the song, giving a few interviews (because she has too) and no major plans. Just let things happen and enjoy the music. This is not a concept era, so it's not as thought as the others. Let's see. But don't think too much about it, PI might not meet your expectations success-wise. I mean she probably wants to sell well, just not to the point of toxicity to grab the top spot all the time Flyin' like a 1000 Doves

Her fans are obsessed over streaming numbers, radio plays, charts everywhere, marketing plans. Her fanbase was already a mess and PI is, surprisingly, able to mess it up even more. I've said this before, I'm surprised that, after what happened since ARTPOP, we are still focused on the charts.

We thought shed be the it artist of this generation and be remembered to the same level as Madonna or MJ If she put more of an effort she could continue that success Its hard to let go that she doesnt care so much anymore and coukdnt be phased if something flops Fortunately her label wont allow 0 effort on charts

She has a record label... there are marketing strategies and plans in place #business lol. It's not gigantic, say born this way (Farmville, Grammys, multi-genre versions, subways etc.)... but there's iTunes placement and interviews and billboards. Also this is just creating awareness that she has an album coming out... so probably more to come in time for holiday shopping season.

Anyone who believes a large label would just let a large artist with so much selling potential just not care is not realistic And i honestly believe Gaga cares more about charts than she lets on. It sounds good to say its not something she cares too much about. But shes been saying that for years now yet everytime some major success happens she tweets about it and says how grateful and happy she is ETC What artist wouldnt care? If ur money hungry and superficial u care for money reasons Even if u just care about art you care because more people appreciate your work if it does well 90% of artists who say they dont care about charts are lying
