Perfect Illusion MV coming within a FEW weeks

What I admire most about ARTPOP was its zeal. An enormous sculpture by Jeff Koons, and paintings by Robert Wilson hung in the Louvre. An app. A short film. A television special. A flying dress, a dress that inflates, a dress that emits bubbles. Career retrospective performances. Walks form her Hotel to her car were turned into Marina Abramovic style performances, as were her interviews with reporters. The lead single was a strange electronic dance song accompanied by a Drag Queen lyric video, followed by an Inez and Vinoodh directed German Expressionist inspired music video, with plenty of interesting remixes also released. It was a combination of fine art, pop music, technology, and fashion. I think the public's tepid reception to her ambition left her burned, which is why this new material seems to lack ambition.

It's obviously too soon to make any real judgments about LG5, and I'm refraining from posting my thoughts here so I don't spoil the mood, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't bummed about the way this "era" is coming together. A reportedly basic video for a basic song accompanied by basic fashion? I'm not feeling inspired or interested.

Well Beck just released his video for Wow, 4 months since the single came out. :emma: At lest it wont be that long for us, unless it's a DWUW situation. :flop:

So I looked up how long after a lead single release do music videos come out and from what I gather from other artists (Rihanna, Ariana Grande, Katy Perry, Britney Spears, etc.), it seems their lead single videos came out about 20-25 days after the songs were released. So i'm gonna remain positive about this not negatively impacting PI on the charts since it seems fairly typical :emma:

I totally agree with all your ARTPOP comments. But feel this change in temperature from Gaga is something that will allow her to come back with a similar ARTPOPesque bang in the future. She's here for a life long career. And having appropriate peaks and troughs is required. If she came back with all the art and high fashion again this time round, when she does it again for LG6 everyone would be bored. This is a necessary trough in her career, with different focuses.

I just want her to be a musician again, enough with interviews and social media posts.  Hopefully next week the video and shortly after that performances.  Even an acoustic rendition of PI on z100 would be something

I agree that this era lacks any excitement so far.

In terms of all things "gaga" for Gaga it's a more bland aproach to the eccentricity she's gotten known for.  Id still expect good visuals, she does stick with the fashion of the lead single for a while. Id give it a few weeks to really feel things out on what the era will bring

Then why promote the song? Release and get done with it, or maybe just release the entire album at once to show your Creativity.

Maybe I am missing something, but I don't understand people saying 'She is not looking for good chart position or sales' when she is clearly Trying to promote this song across continents. :wtfga:

You don't promote your song to shoot it up to number one. If that was the case, everyone would have one. Promotion is not here to secure a number one spot (it could tho), rather, it is just to simply promote a song. It is a healthy cycle of marketing your work and making it successful. Remember, it's not just Gaga who produced the song, many other people worked on it. If she didn't promote it, how will she keep affording paying them? It's not always about that number 1, but to keep the song successful enough.

Yes she doesn't want that number one, but she's still Gaga -a big superstar. If Gaga didn't do any promotion to her song, Monsters like you would have probably tore her to shreds with criticism and hate.

Get out of that number one mentality. My God why does everything have to be mainstream and a mega hit? If you're not here for what Gaga is doing, simply find yourself another icon. Meghan Trainor perhaps.
