idk how to explain it without being offensive but what I think it is, is that basically their humor suggests that the music scene is this sort of a fairyland so it's mostly gays and women that "dare" take themselves seriously enough to pursue a career in the mainstream.

Take me minutes to get what you mean, but inetresting !

Can we not use gay as an adjective to describe music and looks? :poot:

Gay is a person who likes people with the same gender. Nothing else.

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?

What does that have to do with this?

Sweden is a magical land of pop music. I read somewhere a while back that songwriting is something like the 11th biggest industry/export in Sweden?

A big reason is because Sweden has never cut music education from public schools. And 1 out of 4 Swedish kids are enrolled in extra-curricular/after school music programs.

In other words, music (particularly pop music) is extremely important to their culture and their livelihood.

I don't think it's necessarily "gay" but I do think they have such a strong understanding of the pop music song structure/formula that they are literally raised from childhood to be able to write it. And they are the home of ABBA, one of the biggest forces in music history. So, the "brass ring" that they strive for is rooted in disco-pop sound.

Additionally, electronic dance music is not considered "gay" music in that part of the world. So when we hear their exports, it gets classified as "gay" sounding in many other parts of the world, but there, it's not "gay" at all. It's just pop music.
