Why do we lose faith straight away?

Hey guys,

This is probably one of the many threads out there and they're all related, but I would like to broaden everyone's horizons on the last week of gaga activity.

Firstly, I will freely admit, my perfect illusion experience, initially, was very underwhelming. Upon listening, it made me very confused as to what I heard.

I was like the many ggd members that expected a production of somewhat uptown funk and sorry, and it wasn't something that we got.

After spending almost a week listening to perfect illusion, it is definitely a loveable song that gets stuck in your head and does not leave.

My thoughts of perfect illusion were that it had very heavy vocals, was repetitive and felt the bridge could have been stripped down a bit more and had more of an acapella vibe and the background vocals could have shone through (which Ethan onyx remix successfully did)

The more you listen to it, the stronger and more connected to the pain you feel.

What I noticed from perfect illusion vs other songs gaga has written is that perfect illusion is describing a feeling, the lyrics are so heavily weighted on how she struggles with these internalised feelings... Where as a lot of her other songs were story tellers, let's think teog, hair, Judas, born this way... I.e you can imagine little girl gaga sitting in front of a mirror while her mother rolls her hair and puts lipstick on her

Gaga has always taken us on a journey within 4 minutes of each song and perfect illusion doesn't do that as such.

The lyrics are short and punchy, the song is sharp and painful and the emotion is strong and bipolar, where she doesn't know whether to be angry or break down in tears

But why must we lose faith in her just because it wasn't what we expected?

And just because perfect illusion is different, there will still be strong elements of previous eras within the album

Lady gaga has spent the last 8 years creating the strongest legacy, she has smashed boundaries and defined the standard for pop music, don't feel as if crazyga or pianoga or wigwearingga, tfga, tfmga, btwga, ARTPOPga is gone because she isn't.

She knows what her fans want, she will cater to our wants, it's just with this album, she is adding another element to her success

We all rant and rave about how gaga can do it all, and she can, and now she is showing us she can. So let's all celebrate the success and breath of fresh air that is perfect illusion and root her on because she took a huge risk with this single and sound and should applaud her on that.

:)

Dramatica

I learned how to chill on these forums. Even in 2050 there will be fans that miss the TFM-Gaga, what can we do but chill?!

I didn't ask for a free ride, I only asked you to show me a real good time.

We live in a vane, shallow world obsessed with easy gratification. Monsters aren't any different. Many GaGa fans came originally for the flashiness of her costumes or because they thought liking GaGa made them artsy/intelligent.

Now that what she's doing doesn't hit quite as hard or as quickly those fans are all naturally being driven away. I think GaGa anticipated this reaction though. If she had a more mature fanbase I don't think she'd feel the need to go this far with the stripped down image and less radio-friendly sound. She's trying to enrich the lives of her fans through her music, as she always has. She's trying to show that there's more to her and there's more to life than just aesthetic pleasure.

This fanbase is bratty, entitled, stupid, and fickle.

It takes one to know one :giggle:

I know right, the substance of her legacy has always remained the same. Even so early on in the fame, her promo appearances she would always do a stripped down piano version. Yeah sure the outfits and the bold statements helped her rise and be successful and a huge threat in the industry, but her beliefs and artistry has always been consistent. She has always put so much work into what she wants to say and how she wants to say it.

I just don't know why people are so pressed, and you'll find that the ones that are the most pressed are the ones that are constantly complaining about the ARTPOP era, which tbh, she did so well for the amount of bs she had thrown at her. Quite frankly I loved that album

People are so opposed to change but we had so many warning signs, look at all the rock covers and she gradually changed her performance style, her look.

It's almost as if amidst all of the flashing lights, the fame has taken the fans lives.

I'm excited for this new sound, especially the Florence collab, that will be magic

You should try avoiding the word "Straight" when there are other words you can substitute. I get triggered easily "Right away" maybe?:hor:

OT: Early Gaga got us used to explosive charting positions for years really so it's hard to get accustomed to the decline.

I just think it's time to grow up... but I agree with OP! GaGa does not follow trends anymore (she didn't do that with TF / TFM and BTW but she tried to do that with ARTPOP and we know how it ended...), so I have a big respect for her, and I love the song since the second listen :giggle:

Those who try to force perfect illusion on you saying it's soooo good and raw and different etcetc are  worse than those complaining about the song jeez
