GaGaBabyOohLala 72
I agree with OP. First, she's one of the hottest pop bitches in the world. And then, a jazz singer. Now, a rocker? I afraid gp will think she got no identity and always trying hard for a new stuff just to make sure she's ahead of the time, different with other pop singers. Or maybe they will think what's on her mind, she got the power to change the current pop scene. It's quite laughable when she chose to be a rock star this time because the song sucks so bad and not radio friendly at all. I really hoping for a pop song, I don't even care wether it's generic or not according to some "heavy metal fans" here. I need a bop. Gaga, please save us! I agree and disagree. She has an edge of suffering from drug abuse, depression, and sexual assault. It may not be due to a financial situation, but definitely she has an edge about her that shows she's a fighter.

You're working under the assumption that the GP thinks about Lady Gaga (or any pop star for that matter) for more than for the 3 minutes at a time they hear her on the radio. The whole rock v pop pseudo-controversy has literally no meaning outside the walls of GGD.

It reminds me of my parents really with all the, 'In my days we didn't have this, we didn't have that, and it we were better than young people now' spiel. Let him be with his comment even with how insensitive it can be. He is obviously comparing Gaga to his OWN definition of a rockstar, which imho is a few decades dated. And as I learned from my parents, they just won't budge at certain things even if you rationalize with them. I am guessing we might be the same if 10 years from now some new upstart artist is trying to be the new GAGA. People change, definitions change, technology improves and as such, people move forward. Gaga can be whatever she wants to be. She can speak german if she wants to, she can call a song heavy metal lover even if it is not Heavy metal. Please do not limit her to your definitions and to what you think she should or should not do. I completely agree with your post but I don't get why people say "Heavy Metal Lover is not a metal song, like wtf." Like obviously she's talking about a love interest who loves heavy metal (and the heavy metal lifestyle). Currently listening to Joanne

She can't get away with rock because she's not a rock artist. Period. PI is a basic pop song disguised in a rock t-shirt. No amount of boots, shrill vocals, microphone waving can hide it. The audience can sense fakery from a mile away. The fact that she grew up with rock music and likes rock classics does not make her a rock performer. Gaga was successful with the Jazz era and the looks because that's a natural part of her, and it was real actual jazz / traditional pop, and the people immediately recognized it as a part of her. Rant over. Gene Simmons thinks differently about her. BLOOOP

She's a pop star who lives the rock star lifestyle. Plus, none of this actually set in stone fact. I disagree, there's plenty of rockstars that grew up wealthy. Julian Casablancas, Lenny Kravitz, and Lars Ulrich are a few that come to mind. What matters most is passion and grit, and of course talent. All of which Gaga has.

" I said an incendiary thing a while back that really pissed off rock fans. But I see Lady Gaga as the only rock star of the last few years. What I mean by that is if she ditched the disco boys and the poles and the pop tracks, she really does have the musical goods and stage presence — outrageous kind of stuff — to be a kind of a female Elton [John]. In the days when he was playing stadiums, Elton would come out dressed as a duck, or whatever, and it was cool rock stuff. I’d like to see Gaga with a rock band. She’s made her fortune in the disco world. I’m not a fan of that stuff. I think it’s manufactured. It’s done well. It’s not my taste. I’d love to see her with two guitars, drums, and bass in back of her. I think she would rock it. But I’ve also been crucified for saying rock is dead."
