Honestly, it's like you guys are more concerned with the charts than the actual song. Be f*cking happy that we have a new single! Rejoice! Like it or not, it's here. The song is one of her best in her entire career—be grateful she even continued to be in this industry. She's expressed before that she wanted to leave.

What I think of the song or what Gagadaily members think of the song will not affect its chart-run. What will affect it is the radio. All I was trying to say in the OP is that radio will simply not play this one.

Another wrong assumption.

It is proven that people like to hear songs that they've (unconsciously) heard before. Pop music is sort of a salad of the same chords progressions & same melodies. 

Radio is not going to play Perfect Illusion. You can forget about that.

I wasn't just referring to you and the OP. I was referring to some of the negative comments made about the song. You and everyone else has a right to their opinion on the song, I respect that. Not going to make that huge of a difference, if we're lucky the song will go top 10 but top 20 seems more realistic at this point. The song is not commercial enough and every person I've introduced the song to have not liked it and think it's bad 

She needs to be done with PI quickly and release a killer second single otherwise I can't see how else she could salvage this era. Even if you don't care about chart success, another poorly performing era will have an effect on her career. Her record label will be more hesitant to spend on her, meaning less high budget videos/tours/performances, less dates for tours, less TV performances/showcasing, less accolades and I could go on and on. She is also a popstar and commercial success for the type of artist she is does matter.

She made it clear during ARTPOP she wasn't in it for the charts as her previous records...Her label still wanted otherwise tho....and the thing with Troy happened.

I don't care personally if she tops the chart she might not get top40 hits like her early days but it's not to say the music isn't still good. It's not for everyone. That's fine will see you all if she decides to do more commercial pop again next era.

It's safe to say that the majority of the fanbase were disappointed by it on the first listen. If you take into account people who do not feel the need to force themselves to like a Gaga song (call them the "GP" if you wish) and the fact that this song is not suited for radio (there is no point in lying. It's nothing radio plays and it's certainly not going to change)- Perfect Illusion will simply not be a hit.

Alot of the fans and public just wanted the old Gaga dance-pop music back and if you take your time to moderate social media, YouTube reactions and so on- you'll notice it easily. 

I really hope that we begin this era with a clear understanding that Gaga is no longer a relevant commercial artist. She had her chance with this new single but as she well mentioned, making hit records is not her approach anymore. 

If you're up for an authentic, stripped down and personal era from Gaga, then this era will be for you. 

There is no point in forcing ourselves to like a song we don't like and there is no point in denying the fact that Gaga is not what she used to be in terms of success and that's mostly because she just doesn't want to.

 

 

If you're up for this era so far, great!

If you're waiting for it to smash, it's better if you just leave now.

You're saying that "the radio has the power". You know it's going to impact radios soon, right? There's a reason why she made such a huge radio deal. 

Radios will play this one, will they not just because it "isn't like her other ones"? She's revolutionized the music business since the beginning of her career. You have the power to stream it, promote it, buy it, etc. etc., yet you complain about how GGD and Monsters won't affect the long. It can and it will.

What I'm saying is that the countless number of threads like these only seem to care about commercial success. Whether this was your intention or not, with a title like "Perfect Illusion is NOT a hit", and with the attitude that it's all over, it's just spreading nothing but negativity.

Really, i can't believe that we were going to experience the same situation with the release of Applause! Many of you were like: ''Oh the song will be a big flop, radios will not touch it, she should've released another lead'' etc. and the song turned out to be a hit! I think that this song will be bigger than Applause! It's my opinion and i express it!
