No shade but have none of you been to a college party recently? Closer is the perfect party bop. You belt out the chorus/prechorus and then everyone just whips to the instrumental. No one could care less about the lyrics or what the song means. It's a song that you can sing to and dance to. Literally that simple.

Like many other users have stated: People in 2016 don't seem to care if a song tells a story, is intricately produced, or if it comes from a deep place. They want banal, repetitive nonsense; stuff they can easily digest, songs that have no soul or no message.

I loved Akon back then --- even before Gaga!! I had a whole Akon playlist with like 40 songs that I would play every time I went to the gym.
