I would be pissed. Why would she demote one her best songs (let alone best singles) to a buzz single?

PI is an event of a song :firega:

I would be happy :madge:

The key change was enough and the repetitive thing.... And no, is not genius.  From all Gaga songs, this is poor. At least the production slays a bit.

I would be really shocked because I've always criticized singers that turned lead singles into buzz singles just because they didn't have the reception they were expecting...and I actually would lose respect for Gaga, you know, because of the whole "music not the bling" thing.

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

She never changed Venus to a buzz single. She just changed it to DWUW before anything happened. In the end none of them got the single treatment though.

Nope, didn't happen. Venus was never sent to radio stations, didnt have an announcement of interviews, didn't have an iTunes banner and if definitely didn't have a radio deal like Perfect Illusion had. PI has had all of these, it is an official single.

I'd be pissed. PI is an awesome lead.

That being said, I hope the second single is one that instantly blows everyone away. Like that Billboard review said, PI is great, but it also set her up to go into even bigger and edgier territory with the second single.

I mean when they were already realeased. FourFiveSeconds was released as the FIRST single, same as Focus and Pretty Girls; Venus and DWUW were release as promo singles and Venus was considered to be the second single but they decided to go with DWUW and neither of them were having great sales, as far as I know.

you follow me? I mean those now buzz tracks were already said to be the first singles of their new albums.

Now what always comes in my mind when talking about "sales move" (don't know if that's the right world) is when they turned The Edge Of Glory from a promo single to the Third single from BTW, I don't know if TEOG was selling well at that time but I like to think it was because Gaga liked the song:sweat:. Is a promo single the same as a buzz single?

What if tomorrow I see you again? Should I say that I used to love you?

Well she didn't hesitate with calling Venus a promo single. :emma:

Not because the song flopped. It didnt even get the chance. Single choice was just all over the place :interestinga:

What's a buzz single? :what:

from ATRL:

A buzz single is a single usually released before the proper lead single, but could also be released after the lead but before the album drops.

Songs like Pretty Girls are buzz singles, they're designed to get the singer into the spotlight again after being away for a while/coming back from an underperformance. Obviously Pretty Girls failed but you could see where they were trying to go with it.

Songs like Walking on Air & Dark Horse (before it became a proper single) were buzz singles for PRISM.

+A flop single at the start of an era. :deadbanana:
