StrawberryBlond 14,821
More to the point, if there's one thing Beyonce has taught us, it's that you don't need a lot of mega-successful singles to have a big era. Her self-titled album only had one commercial hit (Drunk In Love) - which didn't even go to #1 in most markets, yet that album sold over 5 million worldwide, gave her the most successful tour of her career, she got a ton of awards and she got credited with starting a trend of dropping a whole album out the blue. Then she released Lemonade in the same way. The singles from this one have had even less success, not even a top ten in 99% of the world. While there have been "singles" released, we don't consider them such because she gave us the entire album already. Again, this album had no problem selling over 1.6 million in 4 months, setting records, having a successful stadium tour, winning awards and already it's proving to be one of her most iconic works that has made an impact. Beyonce has shown that if you have star power, you don't need to be a big singles seller, or even make singles at all. Your entire body of work can be remembered if you sell it right. Her success really gives me hope that Gaga can come back good, regardless of how Perfect Illusion performs. Pre-Beyonce 2013, it seemed that your success with singles was the deciding factor for your entire era's success, the be all and end all of your status as a respected popstar. But she proved that it doesn't have to be that way. Still not keen on her, but she gave the pop world an amazing opportunity with her business plan. Didn't you see how happy she was performing though? Yes it fixed her image, but it calling it a purely marketing move is too far. chaeri pls

Yes it fixed her image, but it calling it a purely marketing move is too far. She is always happy to perform. I agree that it was probably easier on her because she didn't have to carry the shows all by herself (Tony was there) and she didn't have to do heavy choero so it was less taxing on her so that might have added to her overall mood.
