Speechless94 545
#21 after one day out (for an artist who hasnt been relevant for over 3 years) is not bad. Lets be real, its probably not gonna surpass anything by Drake, Rihanna, Chain smokers...Pop music just isn't in anymore (Even Britney / Katy can't keep up) . Quite honestly, I'm surprised she's that high at all. The GP, people streaming and listening to music more than just on the radio, are all young adults. Right now its hip hop / trap, and EDM that's largely popular (i.e. Drake, Rihanna, Chain Smokers). It's almost like how the scene was back in early/mid 2000s. Things always recycle, and female pop artists who don't have trap / hip hop styles to their sound, are just not in anymore. Really anything that doesn't sound like Sorry, Hotline Bling, is kinda dead at the moment. Songs like that really set a precedent as to what "Pop Music" is now a days. OMonster 14,667
This chart is totally useless to us right now. This isn't a singles chart - nor even an album chart. This is compiling the current collective sales of each artist. Sia's position is therefore based on the success of her current material (including a recent album); not just her latest single. From this, it's inevitable for Gaga to be lower than the other artists who have a whole load of material out right now. With just one song released, she can't possibly be any higher unless Perfect Illusion outsold another artists album, lead single and follow up singles; which is a ridiculous expectation. On the single charts she is doing incredibly well, still standing at #1 on the WW chart. There is no need to panic, guys. Besides, Perfect Illusion is an incredible piece of music and I personally don't need that validated by sales. Don't get me wrong, I want it to do well, but for Gaga (she deserves this moment) - not so that I can enjoy it. That's going to happening regardless of its position. subtext / fantasy
