The repetitiveness on PI just works

I have seen several people complain about the repetitiveness of the chorus on PI. But all songs are that are repetitive are no necessarily bad. In my opinion, PI's repetitiveness simply works because she doesn't sing the chorus exactly the same all the time. Apart from the fact that the melody is very catchy, if you pay close attention, you will notice that sometimes Gaga has some extra growls on her voice, sometimes she adds extra runs, sometimes a different tone, and this makes the song not sound annoying but rather emotional and soulful.

Yes, it works.

BUT, the verses and chorus only lasting 1:20mins makes the song feel a bit empty after for me

Weasel

I don't get the problem with repetitiveness. It's so common in pop and one of the oldest tricks in the book?

=> But Perfect Illusion has ''bad'' chorus, and seems repetitive.

It really does work. It certainly helps that the same vocals weren't just copied and pasted throughout the song, and depending on the song, repetitiveness can be really annoying, so I do get where some fans are coming from. Other times though, it can be catchy. In this case, I do think that the repetitions work for the better. The energy is incredible.

YaaaasGaga

The people who are saying it's too repetitive and simple are the same people who would consider songs like 'Work' and 'Formation' as otherwise it's absolutely ridiculous, the hypocrisy! :poot:

Spoiler

I do actually like 'Work' and 'Formation' as well btw (maybe because they're repetitive :stalkga:

The fact that the second half of the song consists of two lines ("It wasn't love it was a perfect illusion" and "It was a perfect illusion somewhere over confusion") is just lazy song writing. There's no "artistic technique" behind it.

I agree it's catchy though, it's been in my head all day. However, it would still have been catchy had she written more lyrics for the second half.

Free My Mind

I don't see how it's any more repetitive than any other gaga song

most of them have repeated choruses.

only thing it lacks that most gaga songs have is a pre chorus
