Is Gaga worth stanning in 2016?

Can we just say we don't like the song to ourselves and not make these threads every hour? What does it do when the same thing is said over and over? PI is here and we'll all just have to deal whether we like it or not.

Otherwise, exciting.

Same. We need to start a support group for stans who don't like PI. Our disinterest in the song isn't because we have basic taste or because we're fake stans. It just wasn't that impressive to us. I wanna like it so bad but I don't and I don't know how to cope with that  I'm scared I'm not gonna like the album either

Yes. You will never see another singer as flexible as Gaga is. You will never see another chameleon. She is an ever-changing artist still full of surprises

All you pop-only listeners need to broaden your horizons :nails:

I’m getting on your nerves

I don't actually "stan" I guess. I don't tell people to buy PI on itunes or distribute promotions like some of y'all do (when I was like oh that's odd to such topic, I was told it is what stanning is, so ....). But FÜCK YOU. Yes, Gaga is worth whatever the fück.

Preach it hun. Honestly, when you hear something you haven't heard before, you obviously wouldn't feel comfortable with it.

Gaga is still pushing the boundaries today, her goal isn't to keep fans its to keep experimenting with music and creating great songs. That is Gaga's trademark, creating things that push so many boundaries they become so normal.

Gaga really just shows that music comes before sales and ALL THE CONFUSION. And that's the reason, why, in 2016, it IS WORTH stanning for Lady Gaga.

Because, aside from her, what have we got, generic pop songs that fit into the box. No thank you.

Spoiler

probably not as cohesive and clear but its that I'm feeling so many emotions right now. BTW I rate PI 10/ ****ING 10. I love it!

She devolved, not evolved. She became worse than she was before. #sadfact

I think the mistake here is to think of Gaga as a regular popstar. Gaga is a musician, she's devoted to her art and art reflexes the mind, soul and heart of the artist at the moment. Art is an expresion of who she is and what she feels, and we can't expect it to be a pop hit EACH TIME.

I think she tried to merge her true artistic vision with comercial/pop sounds with ARTPOP and we all know it was a mess. I loved it, and undestood the background of it and what it ment for her, but I'm more exited to see her just expressing herself purely without trying to fit a mold and be pop. Even when she claimed she wanted to break boundaries and step out of the box, that album seemed like it was being forced far away from what she really wanted to do just to please with a certain sound.

PI is really emotional, her vocals represent that. She's screaming with anger and rage because who wouldn't if you felt that way about a love that took as many years as Taylor. The music and the composition of the song are pure genious, and in top of that she managed to make it danceable.

I really believe you shouldn't be stanning if you're not feeling it. I'm feeling it, and I'm here for this new concept and feel eager to know what she's going to deliver with the album. I want new geniune sounds and ideas. I want art, I don't care if it's pop, rock or neither. I don't care if the GP likes it or if it tops the charts. I will be really happy and proud if it has a huge comercial success, but that is not what defines artistry.

That's my opinion and I'll be stanning as long as I'm feeling it. You shouldn't stan something new just because of the past. This is Gaga evolved, deeper and free.

YESSSS!!! THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I'VE BEEN THINKING!!

Thank you.

I'm here for Gaga as long as she continues to amaze me with her artistry. She's the best at it today and that's why I stan.

Gaga is worth "stanning" now more than ever. EVER, guys.

She broke thru on the pop scene by literally BEGINNING the EDM Top 40 trend. There would be no "Closer" on Top 40 radio if it weren't for Gaga.

Yet, after she had accomplished all there was to accomplish in that genre, she moved on. And she moved on to the biggest platforms POSSIBLE for any pop artist (let alone a "dance artist"). Covering iconic tracks from the Great American Song Book with Tony Bennett and touring the world with them to international acclaim. Giving the world some of the most iconic live vocal performances we have ever seen on par with Whitney Houston's greatest (including a Super Bowl national anthem that can proudly stand beside Whitney's).

And she did all of this after surviving the YEARS of career sacrifice she has suffered by pushing so hard to advance gay rights.

She is literally my QUEEN of pop culture. She has no contemporaries.

And now she's back with new pop music that gives Top 40 radio an actual SONG (not gimmicky sound effects) with actual VOCALS (not autotuned robots)...

I mean, COME ON. There's never been a better time to stan for Lady Gaga. The time is NOW my friends.

Well, yes. She's one of the few mainstream artists worth caring about. No matter what, her work is always at least interesting. She's passionate, committed, and she is always striving for something more, so for me she is always worth following.

If you are that put off by this song, then maybe you should just sit this one out? I basically ignored most of the BTW era aside from the album itself because her aesthetic and performances didn't appeal to me at that time. It's possible to admire an artist, but not be 100% on-board with everything they do. It is ok to have a balanced view of someone that isn't just flat out "I'm tearing up my stan card" or "My fave can do no wrong."

Exactly what happened to me! I just didn't connect with the BTW album very much, but I wasn't hanging out on forums whining about it. I have yet to understand why anyone can get so upset over an artist putting out a song or even an album they don't care for. Just wait for the next single or wait for the album and see if there are songs you like better and buy them. I bought BTW, but only liked a few songs. I still ended up loving a couple of the videos and some of the songs. For example, I hated the song Hair until I saw her performance of it on the Thanksgiving special that year. (that was one of the more beautiful moments I've seen from her in a televised performance).

Even still, I appreciated and enjoyed her performances on TV and her interviews during the era. Gaga was still the same woman, full of passion for music, performing, her fans and for causes that matter to me. She still gave interesting and intelligent interviews. It's not like she wasn't worth watching anymore, just because she put out some music that I wasn't crazy about. I just don't understand the reasoning of some people. It is such an overreaction to such a minor issue.
