That's just my opinion ofc. I am not saying that I hate this song. I like this song. I do not love the song. I am a huge Kevin Parker/Tame Impala fan. I know what the guy is capable of. Their last album was more electronic then their previous one, so I was hoping for some interesting sounds to be added. To me, he clearly didn't put his 100% input to this. Same with Mark when you consider he produced Back to Black. This isn't his best music to date for sure.

I have to agree. Yes, I am a Tame Impala huge fan as well, and we can be a bit bias for that, but I guess that's only because we know what he is capable of. His melodies are unique, he is actually known in the indie music industry for his amazing work with the synths and the guitar, I mean no one works those pedals like he does!

I'm just hoping their work is reflected in the album as a whole, so I'm still quite excited for it.

The key change, the amazing songwriting and production... it's an unique song.

By "key change", are you including the awful way Gaga's volume vocals change? To be in different tones doesn't mean to be in a different volume and it sounds like someone forgot that.

Produced by Mark Ronson, Kevin Parker, BloodPop, and Lady Gaga.

Lady Gaga - Vocals
Kevin Parker (Tame Impala) - Guitar, synths, drums.
Josh Homme (Queens of the stone age) - Guitar
BloodPop - Rhythm Synthesis
Mark Ronson - Guitar, synths.

This must be one of the most perfect teams ever in pop music.

Do you think Perfect Illusion showcases this amazing team? Or is it far from what you'd expect from these producers? Discuss, with kindness and no hard feelings against different opinions :queenga:

You are so used to the overproduced computer sound that you forget for a moment that the sound of PI is actually a real music, real vocals and instruments.

The song gives me a throwback to the 90s sound, the real pop music that was destroyed by shitty "hits"..

So Gaga was doing shitty hits for almost a decade?

I never considered her songs as hits.. the only hits formula were PF and Telephone and I consider them as shitty hits for the gp, the rest were too smart and fresh to be hits.. BR was lucky for example, there's nothing "hit" in this song.. it's too heavy for the gp ears.. but there are emotions in it and the lyrics are genius so it's covering all the electro computer sound but even BR is so overproduced..

So sploosh your juice all over me you Riverboy

can you point it out for me? I'm not very familiar with musical definitions so for me "key change" could mean anything :flop:

Poope MOnster

- Intro

- keychange + gaga vocal ( i m agree is too loud a bit but it still great)

- synth

- real instrument

this is why i love PL so much

It so so good when listen it with quality earphone

every detail make it feel like built up adenaline rush / ecstasy

With all of this it still be gaga song

not much mark / tame / blood it still balance and POP

Con : too short / i will wait and see it success with radio or not

if this song success it will be game change

people will follow the trends and new generation will give some love for pop rock again

with all of this edm hits only lately

i feel a bit boring also (many of good song but..)

No worries, I didn't take it that way

I actually don't find that key change as impressive as everyone's saying... But since it's getting so much praise I'm not going to argue too much, as I said I have no musical knowledge but my own taste!

To be seeing The credits only make it even more disappointing :/ it's as basic and generic and boring as it gets in songwriting & producing. Pretty amateurish even.Sorry. (even Gaga's great vocals are ruined by sloppy mastering/volume adjustements). So In strickly musically sence its pretty bad.

Where's The interesting melodies, voicing, harmonies, chords, innovation, sounds, etc.

And oh dear Lord with The "keychange" business. Its probably The most used pop music trick EVER. Very eurovision. Nothing impressive in it, makes it more basic and amateurish actually. Oh and btw, its called a modulation.

Thank you, exactly what I think (I'm going to use your words if you don't mind everytime someone asks me why I don't enjoy the song). How come we're the only ones to hear this, I don't know... But again, I'm no musical expert, I guess.

Seriously, the mastering is ridiculous I think, it's like someone forgot to adjust it while connecting the different parts of the song and it sounds just bad... I don't get the key change hype either. I found the production in BTW album way, way more interesting than this. Really, I can't even believe Kevin Parker was wasted on this. Hoping for something better in the album.
