Honest Opinion of Perfect Illusion

I think if the song was longer and she wasn't shouting over the music and there was an extra verse it would have been a Bad Romance 2.0, but the structure of it makes it a bit messy.

I do like it but I also feel like I don't like it. I could be listening to it and be slayed then on the next listen I change my mind but on the next listen be slayed again.

I think she got so close to perfection but tried too hard to be experimental.

Im disappointed because I thinks it's too pop I wanted more rock and more experimental . And a longer length with more deep lyrics and more different hooks rather than being so repetitive . But I guess she wants that number one and radio play :nails:

THIS.
Don't understand how people could think PI isn't pop :saladga:

It has one of the most basic melodies and key changes I've heard in a good while

I'll still stream the **** out of it tho. Gotta support momma somehow...

For me, it's her "easiest to dance to" song. I just LOVE it!

The only downside is I wish they would be more lyrics (?) like I jst feel she repeats "It wasn't love" a little bit too much

Gagadonna

Mine (I posted it on another thread but I repost it here):

---

I am so so so confused. I expected to be screaming when I would hear the song for the first time, but I remained silent and still. I am between perplexe and blown away.

I am surprised by the song, I like it but my expectations are not met. I did not expect another Poker Face or Bad Romance, on the opposite I expected a rock-ish song, but not something like this. I wanted something more sophisticated, more dancing and less short.

What I like: the vocals are so powerful and genuine, and the instrumental is simply epic. I appreciate the fact that it's a grower. Most of the time I immediately fall in love with her songs, but with Perfect Illusion, it's different. I have to get used to it to appreciate it, and it's a new experience to me as a monster. I also find it funny how people either absolutely love it or loathe it, I do not see that many mixed-feelings reviews on the net. I also smile at the connection some fans made between "I want your love" (Bad Romance), "I wonder if this could be love" (Venus) and "It wasn't love" from the new single.

What I don't like: the end of the song is messy, I don't like its construction. The part when she whispers reminds me of Swine ("not another word from you, but deep down you're just a shrew") and I hate that song. The song also reminds me of Fashion!, that I've always liked, but I feel like déjà vu. It is also way too short, I don't even have time to make my own opinion that the song is over. Moreover, the song was called a "dance anthem" by many before the release, but personally, I cannot dance to it, and it's a pity because I just love dancing and bitching when my fav songs are played.

End word: I am disappointed by the song, because of my high expectations, but I still like it. I am glad Gaga is doing what she loves and for that I wish her all the best with the single. I hope it will be doing well on the charts because she deserves it! However, I wish the other singles won't have the same kind of structure - I know they won't, all her singles are different from each other (apart from Poker Face / Bad Romance / Judas ).

I keep seeing people say the key change was really risky/brave/new etc but Adele used the key change in "all I ask" unless people mean the fact that there's a key change in a single

REALITY

I can confidently say that this is one of my favorite singles that she's released.

While it's not totally rock, there are definitely some elements of it. The song is a combination of pop, rock, and a little bit of disco, which I absolutely love, of course, though, it's labeled as a pop song.

If someone was expecting purely pop music—ala Just Dance and Poker Face—then I don't think they'll necessarily like it, but it's a really, really, really good song.

I think the main problem that some people may have with it is that it's a bit repetitive, that being said, I like the repetitiveness and it doesn't really bother me—she also balances it out with the key change at/near the end of the bridge.

Overall, it was certainly worth the wait!! Can't wait for this album!!
