Wild 1,296
One of my favorite quotes of hers is "At the end of the day when you think you know Lady Gaga I want to prove that you don't." You can't put her in a box and say she's strictly this avant garde glamazon and simplicity doesn't reflect her true self. Only she can determine who she truly is inside. Just more raw and experimenting with new visual identities. 30 years time, I'd love to be able to look back and see heaps of layers in her career. Not just that one trait that made her stand out rehashed for decades on end.

Which pop queen did you last see with a cover like this one...which pop queen did you last see that could sing live and dance at the same time...which pop queen did you last see that literally writes, produces, and creatively directs nearly every single bit of her artistic endeavors? Are you sure Gaga isn't still unique, but you were just looking in the wrong place for how she was special in a world full of mass production and mediocre performers? Savor the tea. If you think that, you have no idea who Gaga is and you should leave this fan base. What made Gaga unique is her ability not to follow trends, but to establish new ones, to never be predictable and to constantly reinvent herself. And she is doing that all over again right now and you're missing it because you're worried about costumes, wigs, choreos. Just go to the next average and predictable popstar (cof cof Katy Perry, Britney Spears). There should be plenty of those props around there. If you're gonna stan Gaga, you're gonna have to open your mind to keep up with her. Because that's what she does: she won't ever accomodate nor ever let us accomodate. She will always push the boundaries and I wouldn't have her any other way. Pushing boundaries: THAT is what makes Gaga unique.
Ty3009 232
At least wait for the video to come out before writing a diatribe on her visuals.

Are you sure Gaga isn't still unique, but you were just looking in the wrong place for how she was special in a world full of mass production and mediocre performers? I'm sorry but Gaga isn't famous for this. Beyonslay on the other hand. And yeah, I was expecting something more crazy in terms of cover art. Especially the logo. It tells absolutely NOTHING. I'm sorry, but I'm a graphic design student, and if more of the GP doesn't realise it, visuals are VERY important. They can vehicule a strong message. What I get from this cover is that she was made way too quickly. Sure the picture's good, but it's not enough imo. I won't say anything about the video, we'll obviously have to see, but two days of filming + that short editing time doesn't scream very original video to me. Could still be awesome of course, but I'm not expecting something spectacular just like before. And once and for all, just because she's going for a rock vide doesn't mean she have to wear dr martens and daisy dukes. I'm sorry, but rock bands have release ICONICS cover arts, and they weren't pictures of them "rocking". This cover is way too cliché for me. It screams "look everyone, I'm doing something different and edgy unlike the other popstars". And in a sense, it's true, but knowing her, could have been WAY more. Sorry if I offended anyone, I like the cover, but it's clearly underwhelming in Gaga's standard. If you all love it, that's good, but please let fans be disappointed too. We don't have to suck Gaga's d*ck at every moves she make, we can still be critics AND like her work. Sorry for the long post

We don't have to suck Gaga's d*ck at every moves she make, we can still be critics AND like her work. Sorry for the long post You're a graphic design student. So, that means you took...probably 2 photography classes during your years of school depending on which year you are in, and depending on which school (and depending on how much you like photography and decided to take more classes)? Her cover art isn't some retro-palette oil painting depicting a volcano exploding behind a hero and heroine who are saving us from the pitfalls of popdom, nor is her cover art a cartoon character which will be lovingly reproduced a million times (on baby diapers, enjoy that internship, it's comin' for ya). I know what imagery is and the vehicle of transformation it can be for an artist and in a place of business, but not because you told me. We don't know that she is pushing rock on us as much as she is portraying the rock stars of old. We don't know a whole lot of how this will impact us fully when the music, which this whole venture was produced around, is revealed. I would say you should probably hold off you judgement until that happens, and keep in mind that until you fully know what you are trying to sell, you don't jump in with creative ideas to apply to it. Something maybe you didn't get, because I think you probably weren't around in The Fame era, is this whole image she is portraying? This isn't new for her. When I say new, I mean that she is quite literally and obviously, referencing her own early rager years in the club scene of New York. Bringing some kind of amalgamation of pop and rock and stage performance in a way that no one had ever seen before with Lady Starlight by her side and her audeince and parents looking on in terror and wonder at the spectacle that they created. So before you think I am just sucking her **** over her artistic choices, think twice about the 3 years she has put into her inner thoughts and her artistic approach, and about what I have been seeing for the past 8 years. P.S. ~Andy Warhol knew about stagnation and the immortality of Fame, and the Super Stars are all dead. Time to evolve.
