BibleThisWay 4,370
I was just thinking recently of how in 2012 Gaga said she wanted to release a video for each song on ARTPOP (and we got 2 ). And obviously everyone knows the amazing self-titled album BEYONCÉ which did have a video for each song. However it came out a month or so after ARTPOP. My question is, what if Gaga had released a DVD with the ARTPOP CD with a video for each song on 11/11/13. Would people have called BEYONCÉ reductive when doing the exact same thing a few weeks later? BTW this isn't shade (BEYONCÉ is one of my favourite albums ever and I love all her music). I was just curious as to how people would react to Beyoncé doing something special like that just over a month after Gaga did it. Obviously Beyoncé's album had an extra element to it in the fact that it was so secretive and was released without any prior annoncement. Anyways. FATCAT 60,082
People have done it before, people will do it again. Besides, how many videos you put out for a project should be an accomplishment, not something to hold over others heads. No one should feel pressured to NOT release material in fear of being called a copier. This kitten over here (meow)
dannydevito 10,658
if this was true then lemonade would be criticized for being reductive and copying beyoncé
whore 11,447
I don't think so. That would mean that Beyoncé would have still worked on the project way before ARTPOP was released. She was filming the music videos for months. Maybe if she would have waited about a year after ARTPOP was released (and it was a visual album ), then maybe she would have been called a KopyCat

charliekelso 115
B'day and I am... Sasha Fierce also had videos for every song (or almost). She's been doing this for some time now, the difference is that she released as a surprise and everything (whole album and videos) all at once. Thomas P 18,479
B'day had a video for each song. IASF and 4 had a video for the majority of songs. It was the surprise that was talked about, not the fact it was visual. I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.
