Literally 80% of pop music is created by people other than the artist, and 95% of the time it's a video of girls dancing half naked with alcohol. She's a powerhouse vocalist, with an insane ability to write a pop hit, and she's creating videos that put the focus on talented young dancers, to tell a story (in this case about the Orlando shooting). It is so strange to me that you could consider THIS uninspired and unoriginal. don't worry! forget this hater and their fabricated views on Sia, they probably had that post written up before listening to the song

memomemome 1,478
Well at first impression kinda thinking of cheap thrills, but with some twists and complex... And clicked. Okay Sia you got me. It's generic. But a good one. And after seeing the choreography and those synchronization, I'm really feeling it.
Swan Heart 7,382
I wish she would go back to her more "organic", analog music as I find it a lot more suitable for her. Hell, even freaking Amy Winehouse was too intimidated to collab with her and now I just don't see it. Oh well.. The song is good. The video was touching yet quite predictable. Loved the rainbow tears. They say it's the last song. They don't know us, you see. It's only the last song if we let it be.
lavenderblondee 3,695
I just can't believe the music she puts out now. I listened to Zero 7 a lot back in the early 2000's (A band she was the lead singer in) and it's crazy to think this is the same person. Cheap Thrills is probably my least favorite song on pop radio right now. She has her own audience of course, and she has a phenomenal voice, but I'm disappointed that she seems to have gone the generic pop music route. Chandelier was great but that was it for me. MonsterPaws 2,731
I was really close to saying how repetitive her video formulas are getting, but something about The Greatest video is different. Yes, Sia's music videos are repetitive (don't fight me on this one), but each 'iteration' tells a different story. Each album a different concept that is founded upon this one persona Sia has created (her faceless character), and is expressed through a child, a younger (?) version of her (Maddie). To really acknowledge this change is by paying attention to the details, most profusely the change of hair colour era to era. From blonde to black. Hopefully the music is good, and I'm really looking forward to We Are Your Children!

StrawberryBlond 14,881
I'm relieved to see that Maddie is no longer dressed in a nude leotard anymore, at least. That was awkward from the beginning. Sia has no logical reason to put a child in a nude outfit and even refer to it as 'the naked suit.' At least the colour of this one doesn't sexualise her as much. Also, there's no choreography involving moves that could be awkward to watch a child in a leotard performing, so that's another plus. But she needs to stop using Maddie in every video. I thought she was at least going to use a new child when she did that Alive video, but no, we're right back to tried and tested. For God's sake, let that child have a childhood, one that isn't defined by an adult they aren't even related to. Sia's repeated need to put children in her videos is getting creepy, quite frankly, especially when she involves adults in the same production. I don't understand why full-grown men would feel comfortable dancing with a child no matter how much money they get paid. I don't like to see children thrust into this crazy business, especially when these videos are being watched by millions, some of which are going to be malicious types. I don't know how Maddie's mother allows this (but then again, she put her on Dance Moms, so she's clearly a crazy stage mother). By the looks of this, she'll still be around for this next album. Sia's got to start finding a new way of expressing herself soon. This recycling of concepts is getting tiresome. And by the way, I was honestly shocked when I found out that apparently this video is a tribute to the LGBT community after the Orlando shooting. I didn't get that at all. I assumed it was a video depicting the struggles of child sex slaves. They want to break free and find the strength...but by the end, we realise it was all a dream and they'll never be free, hence the crying. Thought this is what "we are your children" meant. Expected an appeal for a children's charity to come up at the end. Came here to find everyone gushing about the LGBT message and was thoroughly confused. Sia's imagery can be very...ambiguous, to say the least. If she wanted to send such a message, why use children? Why not use adults from the LGBT community? Or would that go against her 'must use children in every video' motto? 15 hours ago, Dwightie said: Totally generic, uninspired and unoriginal. Sia's trademark. I continue to fail to see why people are interested in her and why she even has fans. As with Kendrick, uninspired and unoriginal. Bye Felicia. At least I'm not the only one who thinks so. I'm not keen on Sia for a number of reasons but her lack of any real insight (at least in her recent material) is annoying for me, especially when I'm being told to love it by everyone. Chandelier was her one big piece of brilliance but everything else is pretty pale in comparison. And yeah, looks like I'm not the only one who can't get into Kendrick either. Pretension seems to be the way to go these days and if you don't like it, you're demonised. 7 hours ago, codymonster said: I don't understand how you think a woman who writes her own lyrics, creates her own melodies, and plans her own videos that go completely against the current norm of pop videos, is uninspired...? It is so strange to me that you could consider THIS uninspired and unoriginal. There's so much more to being inspired than having those attributes. You can do all those things and be terrible. Just because you do creative things doesn't automatically make them good. Look, I'm against sexualised music videos like you, but 95% of them are sexualised? Come off it. She may have power in her voice, but it can be very strained and polarising and she screams from her throat. I certainly think she'll do damage to her voice if she keeps singing this way. She sure can write a pop hit but it tends to be quite a safe, pedestrian one (she even admits Titanium was pure cheese but she's glad that some people could find strength in it even so). She's putting focus on young talented dancers who are children and should be in school and having a childhood, not being put under a microscope for the masses (putting the focus on adult dancers who need the money would be better). And telling a story is a dime a dozen in the music world. It shouldn't be bigged up as something amazing, it should be seen as just doing what should be done. It's like praising a singer for being able to sing well - that should be a given! I guess Sia seems to be inspiring and original to a mainstream pop audience. But in the wider music world...she's at the back of the class.
Gagadonna 10,801
I love it. I'm not blown away but I really enjoy the song. It's like Cheap Thrills and Chandelier were in a relationship and had a daughter. I can understand people claiming the song is unoriginal in the sense that I feel the song is paying tribute to her previous hits, but I still enjoy it. I smiled when I recognized the Cheap Thrills dance moves at 2:48.

Fans were expecting Sia to go into a black-haired direction for the next era. I don't know what it means though. 1000 forms of fear was an album of suffering and fears, This is acting was more positive, with songs about survival and freedom. Maybe We Are Your Children will revolve around rise and self-fulfilment.
Ryusei 61,110
Those lyrics are so dam empty like... if you just read them (in the description box) it's just a bunch of repetitions of the same stuff over and over. I see how she's a good singer but honestly the songs she writes are so generic... Also makes sense though after I saw that one interview where she took a guy through her song-writing process and it was done in 30 minutes with no further thought behind it other than "how do i make this **** catchy?" I don't see the appeal. Also ever since chandelier she recycled the same aesthetic over and over again for her music videos gurl bye Musery
