ApplauseftAdele 4,730
I just noticed that the last single from each album kind of "represents" the aesthetic, theme and sound of each album. I know this sounds kinda wierd, but hear me out. Paparazzi : The only single from TF that actually talks about "Fame" or something fame related. It captures the essence of the album, visually and sonically (is that a word) Alejandro : The only video from TFM that uses heavy black tones, which is a color heavily correlated to TFM. Furthermore, its a combination of the dark (bad romance), dance (telephone), and ballad (speechless) parts of the album, a nice combination of all the elements in TFM. Marry The Night : A combination of the dark elements (in the chorus), the lighter happy elements (verses), "church" elements (church bells), as well as some rock/electro sound. There are many references to her past in the verses, and the song itself is a combination of a dance song but also a very personal song, which is really the essence of the Born This Way album - a mixture of dance/dark/personal songs. And the music video has dark elements, but more happy and personal and also sad elements of her past. Overall everything about this song wraps up the born This way album's themes very well. GUY : Song-wise, GUY is EDM but not overly edm, like swine. There are some parts of the song (touch me verse) that have the "venus" feel to them. I would say GUY is the "core" of the sound of the ARTPOP album. Similarly, the music video is the ARTPOP film, but aside from that there are many ARTPOP elements, combining mythology with the white aesthetic that we associate with ARTPOP. (Also the only video to use the Koons ball ) Also these videos happen to be the best videos from each era

It was originally released as a promotional single from the album as a part of the Countdown to Lady Gaga's The Fame Monster on iTunes.
