Why do people believe "insiders"?

This site is always flooded with "leaks" and "insiders", but when was the last time something major leaked and was real? The most recent major leak I can remember is the DWUW video snippets (that didn't come from an "insider), about 2 years ago. Honestly when has a single cover, album tracklist, etc, ever actually leaked? Yet there's daily threads here on alleged "leaked" single covers/album tracklists from "insider" accounts on Twitter, which always turn out to be fake. This also ties in with the Twitter "insiders" who try so hard to make their twitter seem mysterious and like they have knowledge on upcoming projects, yet every single time, it turns out to be just some bored member of Stan twitter. So I guess my main question is: Why do people still even give these "insiders" the time of day when they always turn out to be fake?

They're desperate for information. And "insiders" are desperate for attention and followers on Twitter/etc.

I would agree with you. But since this is supposedly the week of the PI release I'm already expecting a lot of crazy topics. I think it's fun.

Love, we haven't had a pop album in almost three years, of course we're going to be desperate at any fake rumour hoping that it'll be true.

Honestly, I don't know. You really think if someone had confidential information, they'd go on social media, risking their own security and legal status by whoring it out for retweets and followers? It's a no-brainer, if you think about it. I'm positive I know one or two, whom happen to be informed of authentic information (and rarely, material), but they aren't subjecting into Twitter registrations and impersonating particular artists. They're going about their lives, just like anyone without such assumed-luxury.

I just generally dont believe people from Twitter though. If it's a video, it's kinda easier to discern what level of hype is needed to delude yourself willingly or deny the fakery that it is.

People want to believe something they really want will be given to them early. It's like the idea of believing your sibling when they tell you could open your Christmas gift under the tree early. You are so excited, you know it's wrong and yet you still want to believe them anyway.

And then that's where you spoil the surprise and ruin it for you and everybody involved. :noparty:

Well, I guess it kind of gives some people hope...? I personally think it's fun coming back here after hearing about a "leak" or fake insider information and seeing over 45 pages based on nothing concrete. It reminds me of when monsters during Born This Way when they were looking in Gaga's red lipstick. haha

losing you made me an autocrat.
