But I don't understand how some folks see this look as being "lazy" just because it isn't avant garde. Or high gloss. The look she is going for here is "Malibu beach babe" with frizzy hair and "casual" clothes that look like she's been on the beach for several days, surfing and playing guitar with her friends. It's absolutely a "persona" just like all the others she has given us before. But it's great because it's authentic to the lifestyle she is living today. Yes, her "heart" may be in the NYC lower east side as a burlesque eccentric stage artist, but that was in the past. Today she is a worldwide pop phenomenon who is immersed in a life, surrounded by other successful mainstream artists, trying her best to be "real" while hounded by paparazzi and fans every time she leaves the house. She's a different person in 2016 than she was in 2008. Just like all of us are. And her look is not at all "lazy" - she's put tons of work into this look! Those extensions she's wearing are crazy expensive (and time consuming to get put in). She's constantly wearing designer clothes (even if they are "casual"). She's been hitting the gym like a FIEND to get this body back after her hiatus. It's anything but lazy!! It's just a different side of her that we aren't used to seeing.
