PI did NOT resonate with the public. Promo was lacking yes, but it's clear to see people aren't here for it. We may love it but it's not going anywhere. If she switched to the next single it wouldn't be a mess, it would make perfect sense. Just like releasing TEOG made perfect sense. As far as singles go you go with the ones people actually like.

And contrary to what many are saying, most of us here actually do like PI but it makes more sense to have MR as a single.

Carpool Karaoke and SNL are excellent promo spots. Well done.

But this isn't really comparable at all. TEOG was smashing, it debuted at #3. Meanwhile MR probably won't even enter Hot100. We don't even know if MR is the best choice for second single.

2011 was a totally different time. Everybody was looking forward to what Gaga was going to do next and she was extremely overexposed. Many people now won't even know that Million Reasons exists unfortunately

Wasn't the hot 100 back in 2011 pretty much just sales? i know radio was involed to but if your sales were good you were likely to debut in the top 10 right?

that's exactly why there is no need to rush anything.

they kinda had to with TEOG and it made sense cause song had monumentum. They won't lose anything if they relase MR as third single for example

Well the album is coming in two weeks so if we want her to have good first week sales she has to release a single that somehow can carry the album (although I doubt she wants it herself). If there aren't any plans for a second single soon it would be a good choice to make it a single imo. Nothing has to be rushed, they only have to sent the song to radio and she needs to perform it on SNL. A DWUW/Venus X-factor situation won't happen because she only needs a piano for MR.

2011 isn't 2016. MR did smash for a promo single peak.

Two weeks and SNL/CK can make a good start. Some buildup is better then no buildup tho

yeah but that minimal start wouldn't do anything for the album, i mean it would have same impact as if she just performed it there without releasing as single. she will probably do it alongside PI anyways
