And we thought Applause underperformance was badĀ :giggle:

New era, new surprisesĀ :giggle:

I remember saying

"Jeesh and I thought BTW era was a disaster" as ARTPOP unfolded, and now I'm thinking "Jeesh and I thought Applause performed badly as a Gaga lead" as PI unfolds. The consistent decline if we're being real with eachother :air:Ā It all began when Alejandro didn't go #1 on pop radio.. Then BTW had bad callout scores and then Judas flopped.. The rest is history.

Not that it means ANYTHING but her album cover post has like 120k likes on Twitter which is her most on an album/singleĀ release ever so there's some hype it just needs to be properly directedĀ

There has to be some kind of deal behind it. Maybe it's for iTunes domination during the album release day/week? :laughga:Ā they did 15 radio interviews this week and they managed to keep all information for the less relevant one.

or maybe people just think it's pretty

125k brazilians liking a post =/= 125k album sales

I'm all for less hype, that was one of her issues for years, but I'm not for D-lister promo that Bobby apparently likes booking.

Powerpoint slide imagery and a random tweet of an album cover after giving 1 hour notice to call into a radio station no one even listens to is just .. No. Nevermind having someone go across the world just to talk to radio stations and not even perform. You do that if you can't get played or even book TV. Gaga shouldn't be in that spot :air:

Moral of the story is that Gaga should've opened the VMAs. She didn't need to compete with Beyonce if she did her own rock chick thing-- it would've just been different, not better/worse. Skipping altogether in retrospect was a potentially fatal error for her lead.. There's nowhere for her to go that'll make a big enough impact if this keeps sliding. The video definitely won't be enough unless she literally gives birth to 45 little monsters during it, but her description makes that seem unlikely.

Let's see it this way: she's the biggest niche artist ever.Ā :classy:Ā Her fanbase is huge for someone who cannot reach the gp and the top of the charts anymore.

Yes, the next tour will probably be much smaller, without fresh hitsĀ she won't be able to fill as many arenas as she used to. But I think it's her choice. She doesn't care about commercial success anymore. Otherwise she would be re-hashing the same formula over and over again (like Sia for ex)Ā or use soulless ready-made hits by big producers that any singer could sing... It's not what she's about, she wants to express herself and do her thing.

Her fame and talent remainĀ unbothered. She'll still be able to perform at big events (hello Superbowl), collaborate with legendsĀ and command a lot of media attention.Ā

All in all, it's safe to say, she achieved her goal: she always wanted to beĀ the "hooker of pop", not the queen.Ā

PREACH!!!!!

Ā  A video release won't do anything for the song.Ā

They need to do something or Gaga going to be singingĀ

Anyone from France/Australia/Germany/UK/Spain/Italy has any ideas as to where she could perform with decent viewers (at least 3M+ I guess, big young audience)? Maybe it's really just that there's no promo opportunity :deadbanana:Ā

Radio is the key right now. If she keeps getting these kind of updates during the next 2 weeks, the song can survive. She is definitely doing A LOT of promo before the album and during the album's release week.
