A Stan Was Born

I'm assuming Bobby and inter scope were under the impression that all her tribute performances etc undid the damage from ARTPOP and Born This Way but... Lol this album is going to have to be another step toward undoing it

Well It is playing in this commercial at least lol

is this being aired on TV or only YouTube?

If that begins airing on TV it would give her a boost but idk if it is.

Marry the Night on New Years Eve teas.. But at least then it was 5 singles deep of an album selling 8 million copies, so it was kind of understandable. :air:

Judging by the video teaser, if the rest is similar, it won't do anything for her on iTunes.

I remember that. Wasn't on GGD though (GeePee :whitney: ). I was only 12 years old and hella excited for Gaga to perform. Me and my family delusionally went to NYC at 10PM ('we better get there early for decent spots!') only to find out there were a million people there :deadbanana: we went back to the apartment and tried to watch it on TV but got sick of all the commercials. I think there actually was a commercial DURING Gaga's performance :deadbanana: I don't think I actually saw any fireworks that NYE :deadbanana:

I can imagine the meltdowns from the littler HMLers when HML failed to get any attention though. Same with MTN. MTN wasn't meant to be - it was so heavily promoted yet did so little. I bet it did help move albums though.

That would be ridiculous though. They released the single six weeks before the album for a reason. If they planned on making the song big only two weeks before the album they would've released it two weeks before the album.

Interscope's perfect delusion for the first two weeks probably was:

- Gaga releases Perfect Illusion

- hype from Gaga's name and the iTunes banners make it a stable top 3 song for a week, song goes top 20 on Spotify WW and radio picks it up at the same speed as Applause

- Gaga spends the first week finishing the album while doing radio interviews to hype the album. Song sells steadily so no real promo would've been necessary in the first week anyways. NFL and AHS promo give significant boosts to the song, changing between #2, #3 and #4 place (iTunes) for all of Saturday through Thursday. The visit to the UK ensures a big radio hit there, or at least for the song to stay top 10 throughout the week till it gets A- or B-listed.

- songs starts falling out of the top 5 on Friday, but no real worries just yet. Radio has been picking up the song greatly and it's in the top 10 WW on Spotify.

- video released Tuesday, song goes into top 5 again thanks to the video release. Promotion starts for the song to do well in weak countries (possibly Japan, Australia, Germany, etc).

OR maybe this is part of the decay of the blonde popstar living between reality and fantasy at all times fighting for disenfranchised young people around the world to tour in Jakarta with this album with a true reverse warholian experience that ensures hashtag online kindness therefore leading to music not the bling.

Meltdowns were pretty bad but not really about commercial performance-- more that people weren't fans of the MTN video itself (which they blamed for it flopping, but they just hated the video and that sparked negativity). I also don't remember any meltdowns about HML but from a few delusional people that thought itd slay radio :rip:

MTN era was great overall though. Loved the fashion, some incredible performances, and yea it helped keep the album selling for just a bit as she kicked off touring. It was a nice way to say goodbye to the era.

The last time we had a FOX premiere it was for The Edge of Glory.. And.. Meltdowns at that point.. What we have right now is nothing compared to that. :air: But GGD also used to be like 5x as packed with fans at that point so it was more dramatic in general.
