It's not unusual for a lead single to premiere high on iTunes and then rapidly freefall because it doesn't have anything after the premiere hype to sustain it. There are many examples of pop girl's lead singles that had huge premieres, then fell rapidly out of the top 10 but went on to become hits as they became played on radio, were promoted through TV performances, got music videos etc. Many of Rihanna's lead singles have fit this model IIRC. Ultimately i'm waiting to see where it stabilizes on iTunes in the next few days, how much boost we see when the music video is released and when it's performed and whether radio sticks with it. I also would not be ashamed to see it discounted and that has worked wonders for many songs. But even if PI doesn't become a hit, I'm not gonna let it bring me down too much. Jonathan2244 1,858 Posted September 11, 2016 Share Posted September 11, 2016 Think the album will be a success but PI is great but not for the charts its down to 7 in the uk, I think it should stable around 15-20 on iTunes of streams are decent maybe top 20, I think it might be hard for top 40 D: U.K. Monsters and gp are just not here for perfect illusion and after all her promo enjoy the song the less you care about charts the more you can enjoy it. Ive just listened to spotify top 50 and all songs have soft, chill vocals and/or tropical/trap elements. There is no way such a loud dated rock song like PI won't be skipped.
