I'm pretty sure she won't do either. SNL rehearsals are pretty intensive.

I think she'll do something like Howard Stern though and that should help a little too. Every little bit helps.

Friday we'll be able to see which song should be second single. Maybe it's MR after all. I can imagine it getting good call-out scores but it's a good promo single that should be performed a lot but not sent to radio imo, like Speechless and Hair (and DOPE, failed attempt lol). That way they can push album sales while going for a real hit for second single.

I think a good way to tell would be to see which track has the highest iTunes position and Spotify streams. But we should disqualify Hey Girl because obviously it will be 1st because of Florence's fan base

She can still squeeze GMA in on Wednesday/Thursday btw.

True but Hey Girl does sound like a hit to me... Dancin' In Circles is probably a GUY 2.0 (though it gives me minor Sia vibes... maybe a hit after all). A-Yo has the least radio-friendly lyrics and tbh it isn't that representative of the album but it's a catchy song so if that does the best they should go with it :rip: Sinner's Prayer doesn't sound like a hit either. Maybe MR after all

Million Reasons should be 2nd single. The response has been overwhelming so far (still Top 35 on iTunes). People would like to see that side of Gaga + it's perfect for Winter. I disagree with DIC; it should've been the lead imo. I think it's totally radio friendly. It fits right in with the current radio sound and people would live for the talking chorus. GUY was too fast and electronic. DIC is more laid back and simple which is better. She should release the DIC video on 2/3 and perform it at the SB on 2/5. Top 10 debut on lock. It might not get a 4th single, but if so, I can see Diamond Heart being a cute little Summer single, maybe Top 30/40. If for some weird reason DH does well, she can maybe release Joanne, it might pull a Y&I. The chorus is pretty catchy. Other than that, there are no more single worthy songs. I don't think Hey Girl sounds like a hit, it doesn't even have a chorus.

Gaga reading that interview she did and saying it's basically false.. Already messy with the one cover she did give.

I think she needs to just not be reading all of this-- Her tweets about promo and the all caps one about the album not even being out shows that she's been on Twitter reading all of the meltdowns. Eerily similar to the start of ARTPOP and end of BTW...

Stick to the plan and move on. When she gets insecure, her eras go up in flames. Joanne is off to a rocky start but plenty of eras have and then picked up later. No need for her to hit the panic button.

She shouldn't feel like she has to explain herself to her fans. I think being transparent on the next single and what is coming is a better way to do it than showing some signs of worry about her era..

Also. Last time she was like this was when she declared a Spring Awakening for ARTPOP and said there were all these plans in the works-- When in reality there was chaos behind the scenes from commercial struggles.

The thing with radio is that a song has to be relatable yet not too personal. The song has to be very filtered yet feel somewhat authentic.

The talking chorus for DIC is good and the instrumental is kinda trendy but Gaga's team has to be careful with fan favourites..

My album review (whether a song is single-worthy):

Diamond Heart: good song/catchy, somewhat consistent with PI but too rough for radio. Build-up is good but maybe a little dated.

A-Yo: fun song with good instrumental and one of the catchiest choruses, possible future single

Joanne: not for radio

John Wayne: perhaps too rough but the breakdown/instrumental is really good and it's kinda catchy

Dancin' In Circles: good pop song that's probably the trendiest but it's not really relatable. Maybe some of the best cross-over potential for Rhythmic, but it's still a bit too GUY-like I think. Maybe it's just not catchy enough?

Sinners' Prayer: too dark for radio. People want some positive energy.

Come To Mama: not a song for radio I think

Hey Girl: nice instrumental and the collab is really good but now you say it, it indeed doesn't have a real chorus :emma:

Angel Down: too dark again, and too raw

Grigio Girls: relatable song but not for radio :emma:

Just Another Day: possible future single (fourth or fifth). It's kinda simple and nice, not that catchy though.

The album really lacks a good catchy song. I think it's amazing to listen to as an album and I think it's going to be a really solid album but it's going to be difficult to get a good hit.

tbh I don't really know if we should buy into the 'Interscope is treating it as an indie release' thing :emma: they invested quite some time into pushing PI on radio and I bet they wouldn't do this with their biggest artist just like that :emma: hopefully all is going well behind the scenes. She's so sensitive for what's going on always... :(

Songs don't have to be relatable though, just look at the charts :awkney: They need to be catchy

Well, catchy is one but relatable is another. If people connect to it on a personal level they're more likely to buy it. It's one of the major complaints about ARTPOP (not relatable). Why else do you think so many pop artists sing about love and empowerment yet so few about other things?

so we've got

- catchy

- trendy

- emotionally touching/relatable

- uplifting and somewhat energetic/fun

(- for radio: not polarising/annoying)

and I think none of the singles have all four of these factors :emma:

Still, people can't relate to "work work work" "I need a one dance" "I love cheap thrills" or "baby pull me closer" :)

Since she's not hosting this time, the rehearsals won't be that intensive, probably just as much rehearsal as any other tv performance spot, maybe a little bit more since it's a bigger show but not too time consuming

I'm really surprised the performance video isn't getting better views, the audio is doing better. She needs to tweet the link and put it on facebook so everyone sees it.

Since we've had no announcement, we can assume that they are not releasing anything to radio tomorrow, which means nothing but falling radio the week before release, wonderful :awkney:
