Luc 4,775
Closer is not nearly done. Less than 100M AI and gaining 4M a day. Radio is too slow these days. And PI could go #1 in the US (on iTunes) now that I think of it.. but let's just have low expectations. Closer is MASSIVE. Say, it sells 180k in the week of PI's release. Gaga would have to sell 30k first-day for a sustained lead. That's almost as much as Katy with Rise. Gaga still has a big hardcore fanbase (like Britney, but bigger) so maybe #1 on iTunes first-day is possible. Why it's so important? Because it will be the era's first media attention. If she fails to go #1 first day, the media could start the era framing it as an underperformance ('Lady GaGa fails to get attention with latest single Perfect Illusion, reminding us of failed "Art pop" project'). If it goes #1 first day, it will be labelled a hit ('Lady Gaga successfully reinvents herself after relatively unsuccessful ARTPOP era with #1 hit Perfect Illusion') I read back some of the DWUW stuff. The ARTPOP era was full of SO MANY mistakes. DWUW audio was restricted to 18+ for weeks (thanks to OGH)!! Hopefully Bobby has taken care of smaller things that could have a big negative effect on the single era too.

The real question is: What is their plan to get the attention from the GP so they can get the streams on the MV and Spotify/ Apple music. A radio deal is almost confirmed now ( judging by that tweet)

A radio deal is almost confirmed now ( judging by that tweet) I guess their plan is just to let the single promote itself. Radio playing the song and Youtube frontpage/sidebar is probably all you need for a hit. Hell, these days songs become a hit without being played on radio. So they'll probably try to befriend radio as much as possible and that's it no more gimmicks like Marina Abravomic method/Perez stalking/Roar vs Applause/etc. I'd rather have Gaga give the least amount of interviews possible because it's in all honesty a waste of time and usually does more harm than good for her. Just hope they'll keep some traditional promotion for this era. One performance a week would be amazing to keep the fanbase satisfied and to promote the LG5 Ball/current single. I wouldn't mind a Beyonce-type era but with actual radio play and hits. Put out a great visual and a song that catches everyone's attention naturally, and Gaga can promote for fun less than promoting to save herself from commercial disaster. And yeah-- ARTPOP era was a disaster from start to finish.

Americano 31,061
Side note: Make Me's radio updates are a disaster. This is when discounts backfire-- Radio will ignore when it goes up on iTunes since they won't think it's actual public interest.

There's no reason for them to play it. No one wants to hear, buy or stream it.

Americano 31,061
I'm placing my bets on a #3 Hot 100 Debut, 1.5 days #1 on iTunes, 40M first week airplay. This is assuming the video drops same day.
