Why was Britney's VMA comeback a big deal?

I understand that it was her first time in 9 years at the VMAs but today I saw some posts about her having a meltdown at the VMAs and I got really confused. I looked it up and Simon Cowell called it 'the three minutes that would make or break her career' or something. I watched the performance and it just looked half-hearted.

So why was this years comeback a big deal? I thought something disasterous had happened the last time she performed but I didn't see anything.. :oprah:

It's because her previous album was an embarrassment and insult to herself and fans, so she needed a comeback

Edit: this is for the era in general, not just the VMA performance

Because her label wants her to become big again so they promoed the sh*t out of this new album, but it's not going to happen.

Oh, I'm just visiting-

It's because when she performed Gimme More it was a disaster. People ripped her to shreds. Meltdown. This was her redemption

What comeback? I thought her phony bologna performance was just as bad as 2007s tbh. :nails:

well try performing like she did after having three kids, being in your thirties, milked by your family, dealing with a mental illness and a shitty knee.

Gaga says hi. She's been thru a lot. Got rejected many times. Have depression and anxiety. Her last era didn't went well but. She stand strong and proved that she's really something. So I guess talent always wins.:awkney:

Madonna.

Had her back broken by a horse. Confessions era occurred immediately after....

Madonna

Has how many kids? 2 by adoption 2 by birth.

And no, madonna isn't the best vocalist, but she at least puts forth the effort to embarrass herself.

Because everyone thought she'd never perform at the VMAs again after 2007 so when the announcement came, everyone was hyped to see if she'd bring it after three eras of bad dancing and living in the shadow of Gimme More.

Different people, different ambitions, Britney always wanted to settle down and have a big family and live happily ever after so when it never happened because of her fame and her career she would of course hate it but she said herself that making Glory made her loving making music again.

Plus, different people, different reaction, Gaga had a normal childhood and teenage hood unlike Britney who was always going from a singing competition to another one and then became super famous at 16.

She didn't actually have time to realize what was actually happening to her and she didn't actually have time to think through about her career. She also didn't have time to grew a strong personality and be upfront and speak up.

So try harder next time, cause you failed to drag her.

Her 2007 performance was considered subpar and the media dragged her to hell and back for it. It was right in the middle of her breakdown media circus and the performance created a whole new wave of negative publicity going on during her public breakdown. Spears just months after the performance was forcefully hospitalized.

After being crucified on the VMA stage and the media in general, Britney's anxiety worsened significantly. Which is why Britney rarely performs on live television. The fact that she was ready to return to the show and slay the show, showed how far Britney has come since 2007 and it's inspirational to many people who may be are going  thru their own 2007. It makes people feel hopeful for themselves. People can relate to the idea of going thru hard times and feeling like life is over, so seeing one go through that on the other side is very special.
