"Hurricane Hermine is now just hours away from landfall along Florida's Gulf Coast. Bands of heavy rain have already moved inland and conditions will only continue to deteriorate through tonight as damaging winds and life-threatening storm surge flooding increase. Tornadoes will also be a threat."

Hurricane Hermine will be the first hurricane to make landfall in Florida in 11 years.

I'm in Jacksonville and we've already gotten some of the outer rain bands. Even being on the eastern coast of Florida, our schools have been closed tomorrow. I just went to get Japanese food and like no businesses are open, not even Starbucks :(

Apalachicola is dead center, and it's like a second home to me. I hope it isn't that bad.

It's just a category one. We haven't had a proper storm in 11 years so everyone's freaking out but I remember being a kid and playing outside in category four hurricanes that passed right over my house :diane: of course I almost died when a tree fell where I was just minutes before  but that's besides the point

My town's pretty much gotten all it will get but I'm sure it won't be too bad, even in Hermine's direct path :yay:

Eh that is true, it isn't that bad.

I remember the damage though of... I'm not which hurricane it was, but it washed out the entire floor of Papa Jo's (one of my fav resturants, like oh my god their steak) and it did a lot of damage, especially for not being hit head on Though that was a cetegory like... 4, 5, maybe 6? we have 6 right? lols

It's a really pretty town though. I suggest you visit. Like a famous photographer has his studio there, and there's all these pretty like... new orleans styled building with the pastel colors.

And the fishing is amazeballs. I've caught eels before. Said eel made a Japanese man lose his fishing pole because he had to get the eel off my line and a fish basically took his pole off the deck.

We don't have 6...yet :ohno: Climate change and all :ohno:

I've never properly been to the Panhandle and the only Gulf coast city I've been to is Tampa. Such a waste
