PI/LG5 should've been a surprise drop.

Why are people on here always unhappy? For months, and months, and months, and months people were begging Gaga and threatening to "unstan" if she didn't announce info about the lead single or the album.  Now that she finally did, people still have the audacity to complain about how she announced, when she announced it, how she should have announced it, etc.  There's a reason why she has a record label, and there's a reason why most of us are on a forum and not working for  record label.  Let the professionals do their job.

I'm glad she announced since it shows she's old fashion, I'm also tired of surprise releases anyway. Also you said "minimize" hype when the hype hasn't been on the level as ARTPOP.

I said minimize mess, as in a surprise album could've prevented potential leaks and deals from folding. ;)

What's the obsession with a surprise visual album on this site? Do people not realise that a visual album creates buzz for like a week at best. Maybe it would be overlooked by the gp even in Gaga's case. Even though she announced it too early I'm still here for her teasing even though it's very little. I can't wait for more singles, videos, performances, interviews, appearances and all the other good stuff. She better make this era as long as she can.

I think you've mistaken the tone of my original post, because I've never intended to sound unhappy or that I was complaining about Gaga's decision to follow the traditional route of release. I merely expressed my opinion and proposed some thoughts of what I thought could've worked for LG5. But I guess a forum wasn't a good place for me to do that ... :classy:

So, it begins :classy:

The single is not out yet and we're already discussing her management choices.

I thought we had learnt our lesson. I couldn't care more if it is a surprise or not, I'm just patiently waiting for the song, hoping it sounds as great as it should.

What I find most compelling about a visual album is not only of its cohesiveness and consistency as a whole, but its prioritization of the artistry of the artist. It puts the work first, with marketing backing it up and not the other way around.

I normally would not expect a visual album from anybody else, but with Gaga constantly saying how much she values her work and the integrity of her art over the "money", I was a bit let down when she didn't jump at the opportunity of a surprise album.

REALITY

Anything she does at this point is a "surprise", I suppose. I mean, the banner and the promotions still say "September", so unless she reveals a specific date, it'll still be a surprise album, to some extent.

Besides, I don't think that a surprise drop would have made much a difference anyway. As you've stated, Gaga just isn't in the mainstream media anymore. The latest people really know about her may be Do What U Want, and some aspects of the ARTPOP era. Generally, the general public doesn't really know much of anything after Born This Way.

A surprise release could have easily backfired on her. That being said, it could have been very beneficial, however, I'm really liking her promotion right now—or rather, lack there of. Aside from a few articles here and there, and aside from her Instagram pictures and Perfect Illusion banner, we really know nothing about the single/album.

It's going to be exciting regardless, and like I said, it's going to be a surprise album, to some extent, since she has yet to release a date.

I'm glad she announce the single because the fanbase was losing their sh!t.

I'm happy she announced it, even if it didn't make headlines everywhere, which I certainly expect anyway. The teases and glimpses of what might be are good enough for me at the moment. And when the song finally comes, I trust that it will be amazing, and I trust that Gaga will let the song do all the talking for her, as opposed to hyping it to death beforehand.

I feel like if Gaga wouldn't have announced anything yet, some fans would be having a meltdown thinking we wouldn't get any music in 2016, just because she skipped the VMAs and Apple Music Festival.
