You might be pleasantly surprised. I'm not a Christian but I do believe in God and I actually pray every day and He does provide me with so much strength during my anxiety. So whenever I hear any blasphemous lyrics like this, I always feel weird about singing them or even just considering them. Like it'll undo all my prayers or something. I usually silently apologise whenever I say or think a line like that, like "Sorry, God, that bit was just part of a song that crossed my mind, I don't really think that, please just forget it happened!" Does not glorify drugs, it actually criticizes them, but still gives an honest/real perspective. And it also rocks. Who wouldn't be here for a Bowie-esque funk groove from goth rock god Marilyn Manson? I was going to put this one, actually. But he deals with it in such a balanced way that I don't feel that guilty about it. He's good at delivering an alternative point of view just to ask an important question about society. It's a bop though Ur So Gay by Katy is another one where I feel like I shouldn't like it but I do https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3etdA3K-qGY I'd actually forgotten the lyrics to this one, actually. Surprising. And yeah, I forgot the Katy one. I've had to endlessly explain to people that it's not about gays, it's about emos. Which doesn't make it all that better, but, you know. 23 hours ago, Britney Spears said: I think that Hey Mama is sexist AF but I still like it Oh, I totally forgot about that one! Yeah, there's no denying it's got a good beat for dancing to and getting you pumped up and I love the "be my woman girl, I'll be your man" bit. I don't think anyone seriously believes that Nicki is that submissive, though, it's just for a song. But yes, it is rather problematic to say the least. I always find it funny when some women act like just because their partner cares about their pleasure means that they're a liberated woman. If he treats you like a slave and basically all-round s**t then it kinda cancels out that part! This isn't the first time Nicki's used the 'but he gives me pleasure so I'm liberated ' line either - this was her one liberating moment in Anaconda and yet it got sold as some sort of feminist anthem!
