The Surrealist 27,470
A hero, a loving mother, a fashion icon, a strong woman, beautiful inside and outside. Today marks the day Lady Diana died 19 years ago. May she rest in peace. Princess Diana was the reference point for Gaga's VMA-nominated "Paparazzi" clip, Gaga said in her V magazine cover story. Her accompanying photo spread was shot by Mario Testino, who regularly photographed the princess while she was alive. "Yes, Diana was the most iconic martyr of fame," she says in the September issue. "She died because of it." As for all those other blondes that people are quick to compare her to, well, Gaga said, that's just lazy. "Look, when I was a brunette, they called me Amy Winehouse. Then they called me Christina, then Gwen. I just don't think most people's reference points go back very far." "Who do I look up to? My mother. My grandmother. I love Princess Diana so much. So was an enormous influence on me when I was younger because my mother worshiped her so much. Her story, how she began, what she married into, how her society affected her as a woman, I was always fascinated with Princess Diana when she died, it was, it was, I’ll never forget my mother was crying, sitting on the couch watching the news and I was very young, and there was this powerful moment in my childhood watching my mother, so connected to someone, so I guess you could say, she’s one of my – my biggest icons." - Lady Gaga hosted by Larry King

Bolkins 4,125
19 years ago, I can't believe it's been that long. I think Diana's death was one of the first ever news reports/world events I paid attention to. I remember watching her funeral with my mum and how sad everyone was, people wailing whilst her casket was going through London and the all bunches of flowers outside Kensington palace. I felt so so sad for her sons. 💔 Not the bore worms!

lego 44,165
I don't want to start an argument, so don't quote me, I just want to say I don't believe she died because of fame or paparazzi, I believe she was killed. The conspiracy theories around her death actually make a lot of sense. And I wish, all the people involved, would get what they deserve.
