KURUSHITOVSKA 20,451
What question is that? Have we heard the song? How can we know? Glory has been critically aclaimed and it's not that good, so... ¿Qué currículum tiene ésta tarántula?

She can't be simply because she's a musician first. I'd even take people calling her a singer/songwriter, but saying popstar make it sound like she's only capable for but so much. Which is so far from the truth. I truly hope you guys get ready for the album when Gaga strips down (literally? ) and goes straight back to her 2007 roots. I'm waiting for that return like Potter waited for Voldemort. But isn't that concept of a pop star (bubble gum pop/Katy Perry esque style singer) more a construct in the general public rather than what it actually means? Pop music is one of the most diverse genres out there as it samples from multiple other genres. I feel like Gaga is a pop star because the majority of her original released music so far has been some form or fashion of pop as well as an artist because she holds her musical and artistic integrity to a high standard. But it's Gaga and we know she's capable of so much better.

There shouldn't be stigma attached to the word popstar. I agree with you both. I definitely agree there shouldn't be a stigma with a damn word (though there is). Gaga to me transcends genres and unfortunately when people say "but she's a pop star" to me it's like they're saying "No she shouldn't try this because she's a pop star". If she wanted to shred a guitar and go full rock, or if she wanted a psychedelic record etc it'll be seen like she's trying hard because she's "just a pop star". Idk. I don't want her to ever feel like she's in a box (even though I know she doesn't). I hate titles and labels that's all

I hate titles and labels that's all I agree to an extent but I guess I come from a mindset where being a pop star is almost like an umbrella term for me where she's able to experiment with different genres but still being able to hold that position in pop culture (to some extent) I don't think that makes any sense lol but it did in my head
