I think it's brilliant that the world used and threw away Britney like a piece of gum when she was most vulnerable, and that despite Whitney, Michael and countless other casualties of pop culture, she is still here, day after day, night after night, giving the mostly-dumb people of the world exactly what they deserve and nothing more.

There's nothing harder for people to do than admit they were fooled.

"perform, not just sing" how is there a way of performing without not singing well? or at all! flailing around is not a form of performance, if you can call her dancing and half-hearted arm movements that.

her fans have this delusion that she once sang well, and hate to break it to ya but she never could.

She definitely could sing very well back in the day. Youre delusional for thinking she never could or can currently. Her team destroyed her natural voice but she still is able to sing.

Exactly! They don't even deserve her tbh. She's much too kind hearted for the scum of the earth, or even the scum of ggd. If she would've died back in 2007 her legacy would have been like cemented in as what it is, legendary. When she does die one day, she'll finally get the respect she's deserved all these years. It's sad it'll be too late though. She's such a beautiful kind person.

I can't help but comment again to say that I think the tunnel vision people have on vocals is a bizarre trend we see these days. Vocal talent is really something fantastic, and deserves to be celebrated, but this notion that it's only a performance if you can sing that I think is strange. It's just such a narrow and restrictive view of what performance is and can be.

I also think it's strange when people criticise musicians because they 'can't sing' or they have a limited vocal range.

Critics have famously always said Bob Dylan can't sing, but he has a distinctive voice and is an incredible writer and musician. He is a legend. Same sort of deal with Leonard Cohen or Johnny Cash, but these artists are still considered genuine artists and you would be pressed to find people who say they don't deserve the money they have made.

They have sung and written some of the greatest and most iconic songs ever. Being a great musician =/= having an 8 octave voice.

This is a lip synced performance, but God can Janet dance. Janet Jackson is an incredible performer. I would absolutely pay to see someone live if they could dance like that. Janet Jackson has great music and she is a fantastic performer, this performance wasn't focused on live vocals it was focused on her intricate, difficult and highly skilfull choreography. Are people going to come for Janet because she was lipsyncing?

Michael Jackson also occasionally lip synced and he is probably the greatest entertainer of all time. Being a great performer =/= singing live.

It's completely fair to give musicians and performers a platform, even if their main asset isn't their voice. There is more to great music than a highly trained vocalist, some singers are great because they use their limited range well and have a distinctive voice. There is more to performance than a live singing performance, some performers are great dancers, can really play an instrument or can design and direct an incredible live show.

I accept artists that lipsync but has the ability to sing & hold a note (literally). But the people who lipsync but can't sing at all definitely don't deserve a platform.

Britney can definitely sing, she just can't sing AND dance at the same time. That's okay, cos she compensates for her dancing and stage presence.

But like if she can sing, just not while dancing why doesn't she just do the occasional performance where she doesn't dance and just sings? :awkney:

Cos majority of her songs are dance songs. Maybe she really does want to sing but her management or wtv doesn't allow her to.

Britney is soo lucky that she actually puts on a show to eclipse the lip-syncing. Unlike other artists whom shall remain unmentioned

I dislike lip-synced performances but if you must, then dance monkey dance!! Put on a helluva show and I'll overlook it due to the impossibility for you to do both.

The only way I'll overlook it.

Ps. I am commenting on a performance I have yet seen. So sue me!

It depends. It's not fair if you never have been able to sing.

Britney can sing, but not at the same time as she's dancing (not many can). It's not like she hides the fact that she lip-syncs so the fans know what they get and they pay for a great show which Britney always delievers.
Therefore I'd rather pay to go see Britney than some other certain artists who barely can sing and don't have as good shows.

Lose control. Let go and fall. Do you get the satisfaction?
