Guest
I don't think the contract between Apple and Gaga's team will be affected by this incident. It just seems hard to believe that a cleverly designed contract, which was signed over a year ago, whose undercover-implentation is highly probable in its final stages can be put to ashes by UMG within a few days just because another artist outsmarted them. Obviously such act is truly ingenious and needs a lot of preparation and organisation beforehand. The only reasonable influence of this drama about Frank Ocean could be that Gaga's team is forced to let UMG have complete insight into the contracts between Apple and them and to be transparent with their upcoming plans and collaborations to make sure Gaga doesn't trick UMG as well, so they can have assurance. Furthermore Apple is a powerful company and it's not in their interest to lose an artist from their music platform, whose comeback is highly anticipated - globally. Surely, they will fight against UMG's intention to get Gaga out of the contract because they will lose a lot of money otherwise. Also it is riskier at this point to destroy a perfectly arranged promo-campaign weeks before the lead single release than to keep everything at place and let the Gaga X Apple collab happen. davidmonster 1,292
“We’re learning as we go. This is uncharted territory,” a source familiar with the label’s thinking told BuzzFeed News late Tuesday, speaking on the condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to speak publicly. “But our view is that giving exclusives to individual streaming platforms for long periods of time is not good for the artist, it’s not good for the fans, and it limits the commercial opportunity for everybody involved.” Contrary to some reports, UMG’s turn against exclusives does not amount to a “blanket ban,” the source said. He cautioned that the label group’s chairman and CEO Lucian Grainge is continuously re-evaluating UMG’s digital strategy, and that only exclusivity agreements of a week or more are currently being targeted. Shorter exclusivity periods, such as the two-day window granted to Apple Music for the release of UMG/Def Jam rapper YG’s Still Brazy in June, may continue on a case-by-case basis. https://www.buzzfeed.com/reggieugwu/frank-ocean-def-jam-apple-streaming-exclusives?utm_term=.myJZa9dEP#.ry5j5LeaM

Impostor 4,114
Since the beginning Gaga has shown a very down-to-earth personality. Through her craziness she has stated many times that she's not about the money, that she doesn't care about the money, that she won't let corporations control her work. Why do we believe that she would make her new album an exclusive? This is the same person who sold Born This Way for 1 dollar on Amazon!
