And she pulled this off flawlessly imo

Legend

Definitely. Can't think of a single other artist who would do that.

Isn't it neat though? She was always wearing old-school glam during the C2C tour. I love it.

Sister

She seems like our same Lady Gaga to me, clothes don't make a Gaga.

The future's uncertain and the end is always near.

Very much so :) I wouldn't want her any other way.

Right, but her personality changed very much in my opinion.

I think she will wear outfits to award shows/performances etc. But still casual everyday - even in previous eras she dressed casual.

Also from what she said before about the album it's going to be 'analog' and real so bizarre/extravagant outfits won't really suit it.

I disagree. I think her biggest transformation was from ARTPOP > C2C. One second she was gyrating on a mechanical bull while being thrown up on and screaming to a loud EDM track, literally four months later she was cuddling up to sweet old legendary crooner Tony Bennett as the wholesome Italian New York girl who had been "singing jazz since she was 13, don't you know?". That kinda transformation was far more sudden than the way she's evolved from Cheek To Cheek almost two years ago to now.

I understand why fans may be a little sceptical about how she is now, and it's natural that fans won't like every little thing that she does since she changes so often. This is only really the second time we've been "in between eras" for an extended amount of times, after the wait for ARTPOP. The way she was in 2012 and early 2013 isn't anything like her AP persona.

I think it's too late to judge what she'll be like with LG5. It's still a valid discussion though because she definitely seems different now, so who knows what she will be like?

The transformation from ARTPOP to C2C was far more sudden, that's true. But I don't think it was shocking whatsoever to the point I would say: "Wait is this Lady Gaga?" but I'm a fan so I don't think I'm really objective here. I was just still feeling her obsession with transforming and her obsession for mastering another music field so it wasn't necessarily new to me.

This time around, I feel like it's alot more shocking. And, I admit, there are days that I ask myself: "Is this Lady Gaga?". It just feels like she wants to live her life right now which is understandable because she's spent almost 10 years living a life of this otherworldly pop star who needs to keep surprising people and be wild. That's difficult and she went through alot of tough moments in her career which I think all ended up in her decision to just tone things down.

It's not just about the boots, the t-shirts and jeans. It's about how she handles fame and how she simply doesn't give a **** anymore. I still don't get why people assume she'll return as Gaga the pop star because in my opinion, she didn't want that kind of lifestyle since BTWB ended.

It is too early to judge which is why I'm really excited to hear Perfect Illusion. I know it's going to be different but what I truly hope for is that fire in her will still exist.

I don't feel like Gaga (the person we knew for 8 years) is going to make a comeback right now. It feels like she is a different person, as if someone replaced her.

You can compare her to the person she was in 2015 and you would get two different people. It's really freaking me out. The fashion, her attitude towards fans, her voice, the things which seemed important to her, the way she walks, her appearance, her presence, the people who surround her, the things she fought for.

Is anyone else feeling like this? It's like I don't know who she is.

Before you go off on me, this is just an opinion and open for discussion, not insulting.

Don't you remember, the real Lady Gaga was replaced after Born This Way, just like the real Avril Lavigne and real Britney Spears were replaced.

Girls...just wait until the era officially starts.

:saladga:

And stop taking everything so seriously (not to be rude, but a lot of guys take every little thing she says or does to heart, which is perfectly fine, but at times I can tell if affects some of you guys to the point where your mental happiness is affected- so stop) it's music and she's just evolving. I can almost guarantee that this next era will have some "traditional Gaga craziness" just very toned down for the sake of it being a personal era (which is what IHeart implied).

Itll be okay :laughga:

I think we just see it differently cos this doesn't really make sense to me at all. I understand what you're saying and how you're perceiving it, but I can't relate. And that's okay.

If she does have more of an IDGAF attitude now, I think that's good. Throughout ARTPOP it seemed to me like she was desperately trying to retain some of what she had during TF(M) and BTW, and that seemed unauthentic at times imo. Almost like she wasn't keeping up with her own evolution. I.e. she did give a **** and tried very hard to give the public what they already knew/expected of her, musically and visually. Of course this could be very wrong, I don't know the inner workings of her mind. It just felt like she had way more to offer.

If toning it down now while LG5 is conceptualised is what she needs, then so be it. She's said before that all the wigs/costumes/personas she's put on at various stages was to cover up her insecurities. That doesn't mean she still doesn't love high fashion and the avant-garde - we know it doesn't. If it's the case now that she doesn't have to do all that every time she simply leaves her apartment, then she might be more secure and I believe that will allow her to evolve comfortably without the "front" that I personally believe was present during ARTPOP.

Of course her fire is there. If anything I'd say it's probably burning brighter than it has in a long time. She's really taken her time on this record, worked with people she's never worked with before and seems to be enjoying that process. But we really can't judge that until the era actually unfolds - no I don't consider the era to have already started.

Plus we've still had glimpses of "traditional" Gaga with the V shoot, Met Ball outfit and Intel/Bowie performance and promos which would indicate she hasn't ditched all of that. She's possibly just more comfortable to go out day-to-day dressing more "normal".

I think it's too late to judge what she'll be like with LG5. It's still a valid discussion though because she definitely seems different now, so who knows what she will be like?

I'm really confused about the real reason why she used to wear crazy outfits. In the BTW era she would say that she started dressing that way when she became brave enough and her outfits were one of the outlets for her creativity. But the during the ARTPOP era she said she was insecure during past eras and used her outfits to transform and essentially run away from herself. She revealed a lot about herself and seemed like she was happy only to reveal layer on that she was severely depressed through the entire ARTPOP era.

I don't know what's true, what her real self is, and how she is feeling at the moment.

I feel the same. It's very confusing, and as these discussions have come up so many times on here, we can see how many interpretations of that there can be. Maybe we won't ever really know why. Maybe she doesn't even know herself.

At least she's not one dimensional and we can actually have interesting discussions like this though!

Apart from the fact that she's so silent about everything rn (which I blame fans for) I love this Gaga and I hope she never goes back to those crazy outfits that sometimes in my opinion where unnecessary and made her look bad. And I like that's she's going in a new direction and trying new things because honestly more of TFM, BTW and AP would be extremely boring.

Monsters never die.

Well, she said she uses fashion to make her pain go away, If there is no pain, maybe she doesn't feel like being in 9-inch heels while going for a walk

Life has a hopeful undertone |-/
