UPD: Perfect Illusion concept

Hello, Little Delusionsters, today I want to share with you my idea, what Perfect Illusion may be about.

Throughout the last 2 years Gaga wasn't so active on social media anymore, she was spotted telling fans to put phones away and enjoy the show, many times. Her perception of social media overall changed, she even stated that the moment we take a photo - a moment you are in "dies" and instead of the actual moment, your brain tend to remember the pictures you've taken.

"Nobody’s gonna remember what you tweeted when you die. Nobody’s going to remember your web content for the week. What’s going to be remembered is those magical moments that you’ve helped to create bringing artists and the artistic community together to breed the compassion, the love that comes with creating." — Lady Gaga

So, last week she told us that PI is about "modern ecstasy".

Let's think, what is our modern escstasy? Could social media be our modern esctasy? We all create our own Perfect Illusions of our lives on social media, people are spending more time online, than in real life, with real people. Do we really forget to be TRULY in the moment? Do you think Gaga wants us to let it go and wants us to put all our resources towards self-development and not social media or Internet overall? Do you think Gaga would want to share such a message? Would it be impactful on society?

Share your thoughts on this! :queenga:

UPD:

Recent word from Gaga

Question: What is in "Perfect Illusion"? About the end of a relationship?

Answer: This can definitely be interpreted that way. Above all, it is about all the fake things that appear to be genuine. And how to handle it. Whether this is a relationship and love - or the social networks where you can scroll through endless pictures of perfect illusions. Try to figure out what is righteous and what is not - that it concerns us all now.

It's confirmed that it's a dance song for love that went wrong :oprah:

But we know what Gaga is like it will have multiple conflicting meanings.

*a relationship, that's not exactly love. It may be a relationship between our minds and our perception of real-life (what even :sharon:) or a relationship between fans and the artist (means, we are only blinded by his/her image and our connection is lost) idk

Possible, but I don't think she'd be that cryptic.

It won't be about the media. DWUW played that card already. It would be a dumb move to antagonize the media twice in a row! She was, at a moment, one of the most influential and powerful persons in the world, but a person is only one and you can't fight by yourself the monster that media is. They will reject her like they did before. She made great changes to change how the media and people perceived her and she would play that same card? Social media?

Gaga is quite political, true! But do you really think she will promote a single about how instagram, facebook and twitter are ruining our lifes?

Look at the producers. Kevin Parker and Mark Ronson in special. This is the starting point. Tame Impala uses lots of psychedelic elements and that is already showing in the name of the single "perfect illusion".

Now, Applause was all about the first days of film and the great artists from the first 20 years of the XX. Méliès was one of those artists and he was known as a filmmaker that used illusionists techniques to create the first ever VFX.

So... we can remove both of those options.

Perfect Illusion will be what she said... a song about heartbreak and psychedelic drugs
