But even at full force, longevity will always be the ultimate legend test. At some point in your career is not about your work, but the public image and respect you get from your peers. Madonna doesn't work at the same pace she did and MJ spent years withouth doing much, but their work was so iconic that they became living legends. Everything they done was important to some degree. Lady Gaga is doing a good lasting impression and the change in her career was a good move. Gaga was overhyped at the time of BTW and ARTPOP, she was competing with her own fame and success. It would have been a great feat to reach even more success at that moment. It didn't happen, but her team was smart enough to hold back and think their strategy. The tribute at the Oscars will stay as one of the most amazing performance in the history of the show, the same will happen to UIHTY and paparazzi in VMAs. Still, if we look back, that may seem lackluster, but how many iconic moments Katy Perry has? zero. there is none that is memorable. Even Britney only have a few that will be positively remembered.
