I don't know why people view Meghan as conceited or whatever? She's just confident :poot: in herself. She seems like such a sweetheart to me and her music is fun. What's the problem? Yall are always salty against someone. I'm sure in the industry hates her, she called them on their sh!t On her very first single.

You're twisting her music to fit the fact you don't like her. AATB is about being secure in yourself even if you don't fit the industry's mold of what beautiful is, example being super skinny. The rest are fun pop songs. What's wrong with a woman being confident enough to demand someone treat her right or validate the fact that she's not a size 0 and she's still beautiful? If a guy was doing it we'd be praising him

Compare that song to firework or born this way. Meghan's songs are about empowering herself, not others. I'm not twisting anything. It's all in the lyrics

:saladga: did you even pay attention to the lyrics to All About That Bass? If you did you would have noticed after the "skinny bitches" line she sings, "no I'm just playing, I know you think you're fat,But I'm here to tell you that,
Every inch of you is perfect from the bottom to the top" It's called a joke if you were wondering or just couldn't understand the lyrics :lana:

Yes, I did notice it, I'm not stupid. But what I am saying is that making a judgement based purely on what you hear isn't always the end of the story. There's other elements to consider. Saying "I'm just playing" afterwards did not wash with me AT ALL. My immediate reaction was to say: "No, I don't think you were." She spends her whole song bigging up one body type over another and then has the audacity to say she's just joking when she's been putting skinny women down for the entire song. And then saying "I know you think you're fat," afterwards is a horrible assumption that a woman should know better than to say. When you tell someone that they're insecure, they'll start to become that way, even if they weren't like that to begin with. Women are constantly reminded of how insecure we supposedly are to the point where we wonder if there's something wrong with us if we are secure with ourselves. It's a shame how in today's culture, we haven't evolved to the point where we're singing a song about "all body types are fine." Some people have tried to say that AATB is one of those songs but it clearly isn't. The song wouldn't have its title or its lyrics about having a little more booty if it was about non-curvy shapes too. The bit about saying that skinny girls are perfect too is such a cop-out and was potentially even suggested to her to be included as an afterthought, to stop her being criticised for skinny shaming. But the public weren't that dumb.

Gypsy Life

Everyone who met her and worked with her had nothing but praise for her and her personality. So I'm afraid to tell you, that your dear insider friend, is indeed, lying.

To be fair, an empowerment anthem is all about empowering yourself (along with others). If it's not, it's not an empowerment anthem. BTW and Hair are 200% about self-empowerment.

Been a long time but I'm back in town, and this time I'm not leaving without you

holy scheisse

the industry probably disliked her bc she was vocal abt lots of things like when she would be photoshopped to be skinnier etc. in a way she was challenging the status quo. granted, she arrived with a body-confidence anthem at a time when it was suddenly a pop cultural thing to tirade against "body shaming." but still, she embodied that zeitgeist

I think you're missing my main point, which is Meghan Trainor's songs revolve mainly about how awesome she is.

SKINNY SHAMING THOUGH LOL

The world argument is wild and ridiculous if only by that term. Our society revolves around skinny beautiful people.i just love how you dwell on one line but completely disregard another. You just wanna be angry so have fun:giggle:
