Honestly, if the events that have happened over the past years while he was running (or if had decided to not run) many of these people might come off as normal or might have actually been normal at some point. Trump is being shellacked by Hillary in the polls, two-thirds of Americans have an unfavorable opinion of him, and nearly every down ticket Republican is running as far away from Trump as possible to win their local elections. The fact that he has a minority of particularly vocal supporters doesn't say something about America, it says something about those supporters.
