I don't want MV 12 days after the single is released

I agree, that's partially what killed Make Me

We don't need a front loaded single. While having a music video on the day of the release is great, it's getting cliche and it makes for a front loaded chart performance. The first week would be good enough as is with this plan because of the surprise performance buzz, streams from the audio and lyric videos, etc.

Releasing the music video later could allow the single to repeak, especially if done alongside/ directly before big promo like an Apple campaign.

A chart run like this: 6-8-4-4-3-3-5....

Would look better than: 1-1-3-5-7-9-12...

But under your plan, the song will only get 4 days to make an impact on the charts first week. It's guaranteed to miss the top 10 without a video.

But she would have N1 single:whitney: She doesn't have to release it on the same day but I think that 12 days is just too much. Single and MV after 7 days is still acceptable + it's another week. But 3-4 days is perfect for me

Ehhh, not really, the Make Me video was released nearly a month after the single with 0 promotion in between, not less than two weeks after with major performances in between.

Had Make Me's original video been released it would have went a lot better. The lack of other promo/ bad video killed Make Me, the wait did not

Yes that first point is true, however, accompanied by the surprise hype, large scale promotion, streams from Spotify, Apple Music, and lyric and audio videos on YouTube, it still has a large chance in debuting in the top 10. Katy just narrowly missed the top 10 with a buzz single, lack of official music video, lack of other promotion, etc.. With this plan, it still has a large chance debuting in the top 10, especially if the single is a 10/10

Number one singles don't mean **** anymore. The number one spot is a sign of how viral a song is, rather than mass popularity

But "Lady Gaga's new single debuts at N1" sounds so good

Saint Laurent

August 28th: VMA's to present an award and preview a clip of the MV/Song (this will create hype because of her outfit on the red carpet and then obviously from the clip itself).

September 14th: AHS premiere with the same clip shown at the VMA's (maybe a little longer) to create more hype.

September 15th: Apple event with Gaga being an important part of the Apple Music section, maybe even having designed something for them, but definitely her single/album cover being used as examples, definitely no performance here though. It's likely that the single will also be available exclusive to Apple Music on this day only.

September 16th: The single and video will be available to everyone (sale and streaming) and will impact radio.

+ iTunes festival and various TV promo spots.
