Halsey has a BBH100 #1 before most new pop girls. Why?

Idk cuz I dislike her so much. The song isn't even that good tbh.

I’m a simple guy to please, if you like Melodrama, we chill.

Why do we so often try to follow this ATRL thread format here? :rip:

The answer is obvious, it was the most popular song this week and none of the artists you named managed to achieve that feat yet, but they outweigh her success in other areas.

I think a more interesting question to ask is why you only chose to make this argument about women.

This gave me an actual erection.

She does nothing for the song; they could've easily had someone else do her part and had the same success :laughga:

The song is a total bop tho so you haters can deal :lana:

Nothing against her, but the chainsmokers have a #1, she just happens to be in it...it could've been Ari, Nicki, Lana...so, to answer your question, "right place, right time"...?

ATTENTION: (bad) jokes and sarcasm are still a thing, so don't take everything I say literally. Thank you.

ARI DOESNT HAVE A NUMBER ONE?

Nope, her highest peaking single is Problem at #2

But it isnt her song. She is featured in it.

It technically is. A featured artist is credited as having a #1 e.g. Drake has 3 #1s but only one solo #1.

I'm simply asking why an artist who has significantly less success and relevance than other pop girls has been able to score a #1 before them :rip: Nothing to do with gender or misogyny :rip:

Yeah but lana wouldn't want to be in a song that bad...:nails:

I'm just happy that she got it TBH. She has great album sales, star potential and a fervent fan base in her corner, and a hit was the last thing that she needed. Her second era is going to be insane, I bet she'll get a few solo top 10s.

I don't see this happening if she couldn't even get a top 50 hit with anything from Badlands

Not the Hasloo fans being the new Xtina fans :rip: It's not her song, she's featured on it. The Chainsmokers are the ones responsible for the boost due to the fact that they just had a top 10 hit. And Hasley?

But it is to do with gender, because you specifically pointed them out as girls, even in this post. That is their gender, no? That is the factor that has caused you to group them all together, no? I simply asked why that is. Why are we not comparing her achievement to popular male artists without #1s like Nick Jonas, 5 Seconds of Summer and Shawn Mendes? I'm genuinely curious.

Never said it was anything about misogyny so I'm confused that you chose to bring that up.

Because those are who are commonly referred to as the "pop girls". I honestly didn't even think about those artists, but feel free to add them to the discussion. You make a good point, but I was just comparing Halsey to other pop girls who are mentioned the most on GGD/ATRL/Twitter etc.

Closer is a great song that lyrically hits where the young generation is, plus the production is bouncy and fun. Halsey's feature was perfect and fit in with the vibe of the song.

Also you don't get to deserve to be #1. It's simply about a songs popularity. That's actually the biggest problem in pop music right now. Everyone is fighting for a charting position instead if trying to make good relatable music.
