I never thought I'd see the day people on this website would start complaining about her album concepts :diane:

Cohesively themed albums are literally what Gaga has built her career on, if she didn't create complex, perfectly themed theatrical album themes like she does 'Lady Gaga' would not exist. Hence why ARTPOP sold so much less, the central theme is much less 'glued together' :nails:

God forbid, I'm not complaining about her album concepts. :laughga:

I was trying to talk about the over emphasis, the kind of focus which led to ARTPOP. That's what I was intrigued to know if people here think that TFM benefits from that thinking and how ARTPOP suffers from it. But I obviously didn't put it in the right words. :poot:

No I'm talking about beautiful dirty rich. Not bad romance. 😂

Also not saying teenage dream is the greatest but it has half a dozen super catchy songs as Katy perry just goes for what she can do best instead of thinking crazily about its theme.

Thank god

I like the idea! It would be great for gaga to do this kind of album for once. I rather listen to a album like this ( ala revival) than album with 12 songs talking about fame :reductive:

I think having a particular vision in an album is a pretty good way to keep either lyrical or sonic consistency. I actually still believe all the albums, no matter how nebulous ARTPOP's theme may seem, followed that notion.

That said, I feel like E.MO.TION did have a theme, but that was definitely much more in overall sound and tone than writing.

3 points in and ready for more

I think the main problem with ARTPOP is that it was designed one way, with probably a very classic Gaga-esque theme, but by the time her label changed it to their liking, it had lost a lot of its focus...and then I think her split with Troy caused her to make a lot of last minute changes that ended up changing the original ARTPOP idea too. The great thing about TF/TFM & and BTW are their easily accessible, instantly 'iconic' themes. 'ARTPOP could mean anything' isn't something you can snap your fingers and understand, I don't think even Gaga fully understood ARTPOP's concept in its final form. Hopefully she goes back to having a simple, well thought out concept that won't get stretched 10 different ways like AP did.

This sounds like I hate ARTPOP but it's one of my fave albums and I jam to it almost every day tbh :laughga:

REALITY

1. Well, she has been restricted before, but not because of an overemphasis on the album's theme. Especially with the ARTPOP era, we saw that the music industry and labels, and executives, are really what has held her back in particular points of her career; however, overall, I don't think she was held back, creatively or artistically.

2. I don't think that's likely. Her albums and her art will always revolved around something. Having an album that's not cohesive is not like her at all.

One of the things I like about Gaga is that she always does concept albums. I thought it was the usual thing (I only listen to her, I like songs here and there by other artists but she's the only one I really know and follow her career). But I learnt it had a name, and not many artists do that, making albums with specific themes, doing a whole story or concept about the album. Her albums and eras have always been coherent, I don't want her to just do songs like this that don't have a specific meaning.

eg: Some of the songs on The Fame are sub-par as they are trying so hard to stay on its theme. BDR I am looking at you.

I Like It Rough x Brown Eyes are less related to the theme than BDR.

2. Is LG5 going to be her first album which is not going to adhere to any particular topic but just serve awesome pop tunes. The best she could do!

BDR is one of the best songs on TF though... :nails:

And Gaga doesn't need a Teenage sh!t, she makes her own Pop music which is also far superior than the bublegum recycled mess of Cheesy Perry... :nails:

And thank god that they brought this emote back :nails:

Since you quoted me: I don't agree with the OP. I was just helping explain what he was trying to say :laughga:

Actually I'm saying that BDR is indeed related to the theme of fame. Only a little too much. :gaycat:
